#Knuth
I can/could only recommend talking to Ed Southern, Donald Knuth and Roger Penrose. Utterly delightful people.

Can't speak to the others, but, yes Donald Knuth FTW!

Nice that Knuth is still with us and still writing books.

2/ 53 precincts weren’t redistricted 2021 to 2025; in 47, there was no change in the winner. (This assumes a precinct won by Kate Knuth in 2021 and Fateh in 2025 isn’t a flip). Only 1 flipped to Frey: South Kingfield 8-4 went from 51% Knuth to 53% Frey. 5 flipped to Fateh: 6-3, 6-6, 6-9, 8-1 & 9-3.

The Knuth is out there.....

Davies draws an interesting line between Ferdinand Porsche, Donald Knuth, and startup culture. https://monocle.com/business/in-defence-of-middle-management/

One striking feature of 2021 & 2025 is how center-left lane (between Frey & DSA) contains zero money. Koski found many pledges of support evaporated; Knuth was low budget & DeWayne & even Jazz did not have enough $ to be viable. You’re left with DSA/left energy but candidate must be perfect.

The Knuth, the whole Knuth & nothing but the Knuth.
November 4, 2025 at 10:36 AM
frey ended up with 3,000 more votes than 2021, though fateh got 10,000 more than kate knuth ended up with.

You want the Knuth?

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE KNUTH!
November 4, 2025 at 9:31 AM
dynamic is different because nezhad was the lefty and knuth was the liberal but … this is not 100% for frey. very high transfer %s can happen and have happened.
nezhad voters were fucking disciplined as hell. i know this is an inscrutable image but the gist of it is: nezhad voters sent HUGE numbers to knuth, TINY numbers to frey, and SMALL numbers to exhaustion.

Common with these e-books..

E-Knuth is enough!

The worst thing about moving to a boat after selling my house was getting rid of my library. It killed me to give my set of Knuth to my local Friends of the Library used bookstore when no one would buy it online.

The actual breakdown is obviously more complicated than this, but looking just at the top four candidates, just 52% of Davis and Hampton votes transferred to Fateh. That number was much higher four years ago for transfer to Knuth.

Sometimes I think people forget that, in 2021 Rent Control got more votes than Jacob Frey did.

i think it is worth noting how much closer this race was than when frey was elected in 2021 & 2017 which i think is worth acknowledging & giving credit where due to @omarfatehmn.com for the work he put into his campaign for mayor

hope we can still have you as a state senator!

Indeed. A good broad liberal arts education is what everyone needs.

Donald Knuth and Wassily Kandinsky should be in everyone's education.

Don E Knuth? Er, this is where I struggle with being on the spectrum. This is a joke, isn't it? 🤔

I just put together a pretty data-heavy Southwest Voices newsletter. Here is my mayor blurb that was fact-checked by a rank choice voting expert™️

Don't doom about the MPLS mayor election quite yet. Frey is absolutely not assured to win

In 2021, 16% of votes to eliminated candidates went to Frey, and 51% went to Knuth (runner-up candidate)

If we do that same math with the current results:
Frey - 67,087 (50.5%)
Fateh - 65,834 (49.5%)

the media does voters a disservice by pretending this alliance between fateh, davis, and hampton is confusing or awkward, especially when we have had ranked choice voting in mnneapolis for multiple election cycles now, and the last week of 2021, kate knuth and sheila nezhad said to rank each other
Having hosted the 3 mayoral challengers I don’t find their alliance awkward & have yet to talk to a non-Frey voter who can’t tell them apart. Even Facebook normies can, judging from their posts. It’s a shame the conventional media buys into Frey‘s RCV ooga-booga. www.startribune.com/omar-fateh-d...

Q6 - In the 2021 Minneapolis mayoral election, if you recall, who did you rank first? (Frey, Knuth, Nezhad, Didn’t vote, Don’t remember, Other (please specify))
October 31, 2025 at 5:46 PM
Last time, it wasn't a failing of RCV strategy. It was just that Frey was more popular than the progressive opposition. Frey got 43 percent, Nezhad and Knuth got 39 percent, and also-ran candidates got 18 percent. The also-ran voters mostly either exhausted their ballots or ranked Frey.

Kate Knuth has endorsed my campaign! It's an honor to be endorsed by someone who has worked so hard to support our Minneapolis communities and our environment.

Thank you, @kateknuth.bsky.social!

Here's what she said about why she's endorsing me:
