#Truth. Yes. Every county voted for him. They were historically blue from 30s-90s. Terrible education system here. They suppress info about Matewan. Many Trumper’s ancestors died during the Mine Wars. They are stunned when we tell them and their grandma confirms it.

If anyone is wondering what Trump and Farage think “great again” looks like, I recommend you watch Matewan by John Sayles.

They already have. Fortunately, West Virginians are pretty resilient. Remember the Mine Wars/Matewan. Wait till they figure out Trump’s a carpet bagger. It won’t be pretty.

I referred to the 1919 GS, also the Philadelphia one
Haymarket is a demonstration with violence + false accusations resulting in the need for posthumous pardons
Haymarket is similar to Ludlow to Matewan to Bonus Army
but the main ones I've referred to are GS
not sure what your point is here

Watching 'Matewan', and turns out the kid in it I was being niggled by with recognition is little Will Oldham! Didn't realise he was in films that early.

What's up with Trump support these days?
We just got back from five days of driving through West Virginia, from all around the New River Gorge in central WV to Mingo County and Matewan in southwest WV, then north to the interstate and on home to Cleveland. Gorgeous country, but no Trump signs.

In Matewan, one of the all-time great villains. It was good to see him again in OBAA.

LOVED seeing him this. One of my all-time favorite antagonists was his role in Matewan.

my normal canon list is like 600 movies long or something stupid like that but I did taper it down to this 52 a couple years ago so this does the trick for brevity's sake

I grew up on Emergency!; had the lunchbox. Anytime I get to see Kevin Tigh on screen is a good time—Matewan (& all his other Sayles roles) especially. I don't agree that One Battle is a great film, but his performance does not disappoint.
This is great. I'll take all the Remember Some Guys-style interviews with character actors that you've got, and this is an especially good one.

From Matewan to Eight Men Out, Kevin Tighe has always been one of my favorite baddies. He's 81 and suffers from Parkinson's, and the story of how Paul Thomas Anderson worked to bring out the best in him makes me love this director and this movie even more.

Beautiful interview. I was so psyched to see him in OBAA as I finally watched Matewan earlier this year. The man is a legend just for that role
If you’re like me, you sat up on your chair when S-tier character actor Kevin Tighe turned up in ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. I had a wonderful conversation with him about it for The Reveal: thereveal.film/interview-ke...

Got the Criterion of Matewan and it looks incredible. What a film.
Matewan also provided me with this cross-referencing thought that really makes me laugh.

This guy was my hero as a child for his work in Emergency. I was amazed by how he later transformed himself into a fantastic villain in some great movies and shows like Matewan and Lost. Great to see this.

"When Tighe reemerged in John Sayles’ great 1987 historical drama Matewan as Hickey, a union-buster from the Baldwin-Felts Detective Agency, it kicked off a busy second act in which he was often cast as the heavy."

It is wild how much he reinvented himself between Emergency! (a show I watched daily as a kid) and his later work in Matewan and Road House. Just a completely different kind of Guy.
