#loglines
burbs, summaries, bios and loglines. The worst.

Comps I LOVE. ***LOVE***

Synopses are the LinkedIn of loglines.

I'm not sure which I like less, loglines, comps, or synopses.

Yes I am working on loglines.

I'd rather drop boxes on my bare feet. It would feel not a bit less stupid and annoying, but I'd at least get a bit of sympathy for my complaints.*

I'm not sure I've mentioned lately how much I hate loglines.

Hate their existence. Hate their alleged utility. Hate all the cliches and BS associated with their construction. Hate writing them. Hate correcting it to "logline" whenever BlueSky tries to klutzfully change it to "longline."

Hate 'em.

Partying neighbors until 9 AM? Complete nope!
Glad you got some liquid fuel to finish the writing.
And yeah, loglines sum up my life right now too.

Screenwriters are always told to get the logline perfect or else. Go read the Blacklist 2025. A lot of loglines fall flat - often concluding with "and hilarity ensues" wrap-ups, or else they don't give hardly anything away. AND YET...

I read enough drama loglines that my eyes glazed over

I may technically be the target age group for serious dramas about real feelings but I need the Waffle House index movie

Most of the Black List loglines are terribly written. It astounds. Elements of Style should have a role in bringing back a culture of shame.

The Black List is sorta horny this year.

Thanks Eve, that's very kind considering I always find writing loglines to be a bit hit or miss with me! Would be great to chat more in the new year :)

I love the way you set up the description of the story here. So clear and intriguing. A really excellent lesson in compelling loglines!

Loglines are to get a read... so #1 is it for me.

I'm at a point where my writing is in a very weird place. I am confident in it but also I just do not want to write what anyone else is writing and that's absolutely detrimental. I've tried to figure out how to best make loglines that are simple to understand and yet it's just not gaining traction.

I really didn’t have many connections, despite having one film produced. But I had a few producers and other writers I could email, so I sent out a sheet of loglines to anyone who would vote.

I do enjoy writing these stupid little loglines
November 24, 2025 at 5:04 PM
i get very anxious posting about wips because i feel like it'll prevent me from finishing them, somehow. but also loglines is the part of the process im worst at, so i'd rather just see all the cool things other authors are doing

This is why movie scripts come with "loglines" and "taglines". There's like ninety "Escape from Hell" movies from 1980 alone.

Starting my writing prep thread. I have chosen 5 ideas.

I am starting with thinking of loglines for each. Then do the snowflake method of slowly building toward a pitch. Finally an adapted script/scene outline I found years ago on Cullen Bunn’s site.

A couple of years ago, when M*x L*nd*s lost his laptop, he was despondently posting the loglines from the "sixty unfinished screenplays" of which the world had been deprived, and EVERY SINGLE ONE was a "reimagining" of some familiar property in an "X meets Y" construction. IT AIN'T HARD, Y'ALL
