Canada continues to legislate poverty for disabled people at provincial & federal levels while making support programs as inaccessible & underfunded as they can get away with.

It is very hard to cope with chronic illness when you can’t afford to have your basic needs met

It’s not a personal failing. It’s the result of a hyper capitalistic & ableist society

We need to stop blaming the individuals and start demanding social reform

I get what Robyn’s going for here but it’s incorrect. The Irish and Italians were hated in word and deed until they proved useful as cops and such. Whiteness is absolutely a reward for “good behaviour” in upholding it. Even now, in Canada, Syrians and Ukrainians are considered “good” immigrants 😐

Why is this such a harmful myth?

Because it not only does it characterize whiteness as aspirational, but it creates this idea that Italians, Irish, whoever, were "good" and were then rewarded with whiteness. Or that Americans learned to become more tolerant — which, clearly they did not.

Very jarring how the media treats some lives as inherently and others not.

I am happy for hostages and their families to be reunited, but it’s shocking how little media attention is given to “how do Gazans grapple with the utter destruction of their homes, vast loss of lives, and ongoing famine.”

Imagine, especially in Canada if we could get to the point that every developer had to include solar energy in their designs whether that be solar panel, roof tiles windows that absorb solar energy investing in new technology for housing materials to help gather energy.

I found a 19th century Cat Villain!

A huge chonk of a fluffy cat sitting on a table near an open fire. The cat is cream and grey and appears to be shaped like a barrel in a fur coat. They are scowling fiercely with their moustache and bewhiskered ears apparently flowing back into the cold wind. There's a definite vibe that this villainous cat twirls their moustache as they evict orphans into the aforementioned blizzard and think Scrooge was an easy-going lightweight. They are magnificent.
