To clarify he (my dad) is more of a theologian/historian than straight historian.

Hence his (one-sided) beef with Thiel is not just academic, but primarily ethical.

My dad is a historian and his thinking is heavily influenced by Girard’s teachings (esp on mimetic desire). But Thiel was literally a student of Girard at Stanford & has taken a very different interpretation, while also citing him as a major influence in print
