I just watched the video of the Portland Cop threatening to arrest an ICE agent if they drive their truck through a crowd. Now I see this where the General of the Oregon National Guard says if they get called up they will protect the protesters. People are fed up.

Oregon general’s testimony that National Guard troops ‘will be protecting any protesters’ gains traction online
Brigadier General Alan R. Gronewold made the comments to state lawmakers Sept. 30, and they drew notice on social media this week.

Salvation Army seen feeding ICE today. For anyone who doesn't already know about their bigotry, here is more, No need to give them your money this Christmas, or ever.

It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

If y'all wanted to go into your evening smiling: some dude none of us have ever met has a wheelchair that works now. The broken one has been donated to the same shop I got the new one from, so they're gonna repair that and give it away.

The Virginia Senate just told UVA it’s not getting state funding if it accepts the compact since UVA exists to serve Virginia, its residents, & their interests—not be a tool of the federal govt. I’m currently at a pop culture convention with 120k+ attendees where there’s Game of Thrones stuff literally everywhere, and the Marvel TV panel was so overpacked they had to shut down the floor. But I will agree people do not talk about Succession quite as often as when it was airing every week.
Nobody really talks about Succession anymore. Or Game of Thrones. Sort of confirms my thesis that, with rare exceptions, television does not really matter.

The MSM does not interview community organizers. It's part of why they miss so much of what happens at the local level.

Since some people seem to be misunderstanding things:

It's not that I can't cook from relatively scratch ingredients (flour, milk, eggs, dried beans, etc).

It's that it's not a failing to not do so every day. Which, again, is a thing that most people, even historically, didn't do either.
drmikewiser.bsky.social
For any who need to hear this:

Most people, throughout history, have not had to cook every day. It's not weird to not always have the energy to do that. And when you have some but not tons of energy, a lot of packaged or frozen foods have gotten good in the past 20 years.

The increasing use of AI to surveil people’s emotions endangers not only privacy but also personal autonomy—the bedrock of democracy, writes Oznur Uguz. Newly emerging AI laws fail to provide adequate safeguards, she says.

If we do not regulate emotional AI surveillance now, we might soon have to fake how we feel to protect our privacy, writes Oznur Uguz.

I repair rare books and last year that included some writings by Southern pastors about how to reconcile owning enslaved persons with being 'a good Christian' and woo baby there was nothing Jesus said that these guys couldn't reconcile with the right to beat enslaved people to death

I’ve said this on here before but my “reformed” church brining this guy (Wilson) to speak in 1997 was the first massive red flag telling me I’d gotten myself into a situation I needed to get out of.
maxkennerly.bsky.social
Ross Douthat treats this guy like they're having some deep conversation about the relationship of Christianity and the government, but the dude is a garden-variety dull, shallow, hateful, worthless bigot with nothing interesting to say, just endless riffs on "God hates everything/everyone I do."
Douthat: So that’s the first purpose of your political project, for America to stop making God angry.

Wilson: Yes. And most people think that when they are confronted with that project, they think that we want to get our tentacles into everything and start controlling everything. I actually think we need limited government. The government should be significantly smaller than it is, and we need to curtail a lot of the busybodyness that we have. That’s why I would call myself a theocratic libertarian. There is a true libertarian element in this, and yet, the transcendent grounding for what we’re talking about means that we acknowledge the authority of God.

We have racked up quite a body count of awful crimes, and I believe the only way out is for us to repent and turn to Christ. This would be things like no more Pride parades, no more drag queen story hours, no more abortion on demand, no more legalized same-sex unions — all of that, done. That’s the repentance part.

The utter inability of legacy news media to be able to deal with being straight-up lied to is one of the primary drivers of this mess.
