Undeniable Facts:

- The National Guard in DC were political props
- They were landscaping and collecting trash
- Their deployment to DC was ruled illegal
- They shouldn't have been in DC that day; they should have been HOME for Thanksgiving
- trump bears some responsibility.

The legal, media, and academic institutions capitulating to an authoritarian ordering payments for favorable treatment are damning themselves to irrelevance. They are destroying their institutions. They will be — and should be — shunned for failing in their most basic purposes for existing.
BREAKING: Northwestern University has agreed to pay the U.S. Treasury $75 million, over the course of three years as part of an agreement with the federal government to restore funding and end investigations into the university

Number one domestic terror threat remains white supremacist violent and radical right wing groups. Not a peep about it from the Trump Administration. In fact they scrubbed the data from the DOJ.

I think that somewhere along the way something in Stephen Miller got fundamentally damaged. This is neither an excuse nor a mitigating factor; the dude is genuinely fucking evil and he and everything he stands for should be fought against and stopped. But he is something beyond mere sociopathy.
Since Stephen Miller is in the midst of another of his Aryans-only trantrums, we should note that his family are 20th century immigrants from the shtetl of Antopol (Антопаль) then in the Hrodna gubernia of Russia. Applying his immigration rules, they would all have perished in the Holocaust.
Stephen Miller Is an Immigration Hypocrite. I Know Because I’m His Uncle.
If my nephew’s ideas on immigration had been in force a century ago, our family would have been wiped out.

I feel like, "Why do Trump's doctors keep administering cognitive exams to him?" is a question the media might want to pursue, if for some reason they were inclined to apply the same standards to a Republican politician that they do to Democratic ones.
There is no reason for anyone to be intimidated by this unpopular failing lame duck whose mental and physical health is circling the drain
Four polls in recent days now have Trump in the 30s, with 3 at 35%-36%: 2/
35%-62% (-27) ARG
35%-56% (-21) High Point University
36%-60% (-24) Gallup
38%-57% (-19) Econ/YouGov
Again, Trump just keeps dropping.

Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

‘Cause Duggan is ultimately just an opportunist. CEO of a hospital system? He’s a ruthless union buster! Mayor of a black city? He’s an anti-racist activist! Running for governor of a state with plenty of bigots? He’s a both-sideser.

It’s amazing that you have a political party that’s pretty explicitly pro-political violence, meanwhile you still have beltway media continuously speaking about political violence on “both sides”
Lisa McClain refuses to unequivocally condemn threats of violence against Democratic members of Congress who Trump said should be put to death, and says, "there are consequences. You can have freedom of speech, but freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences."

Is it common for academic (and academic-ish) conferences to deny access to hotel info (e.g., prices) until someone has registered (when reg is non-refundable)? Seems super classist (and just unreasonable) to me.
