the us healthcare system also runs on SSRIs (and ADHD meds). so many medical professionals have depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues and rely on antidepressant meds as part of the regimen that allows them to do their job caring for others!!
If the US blocks access to HRT, ADHD drugs, and SSRIs, I cannot begin to describe to you how much all of the tech sector will screech to a halt. The internet is built and maintained by trans people, people with chronic depression, and the neurodivergent.

This is a really exciting breakthrough, but some of the responses to it make me feel like people aren't up to date on the current state of HIV treatment. For the vast majority of patients with access to testing and treatment, HIV is already a manageable chronic condition, not a death sentence!!
