praise for Kirk from liberal pundits is one of the clearest distillations of how ill-equipped they are for this fascist moment, & how devoted they are to a West Wing fantasy of a respectable right/conservative movement that does not exist, and which - like Kirk - almost never operates in good faith

America and Europe are on the path of destroying themselves due to white supremacy. Instead of sharing with the rest of us, they'll choose to burn it all down.

I dont think people are prepared or aware of what's happening right now.

Thankfully, we still have the numbers but we must organize.

We have had nearly two decades of panic about Free Speech on Campus and not a single case, not even the ones they made up, were as bad as what's happening now
This is the text of the email just sent to hundreds of international students telling them that their visas have been revoked due to activism or social media posts.

What Vance is doing here is ENORMOUS disinformation. International students at the undergrad level typically pay full tuition, which subsidizes tuition for American students on financial aid by keeping tuition costs lower. At the grad level, domestic students are harder to recruit!
"Last week, Vance said foreign students at elite U.S. universities are 'not just bad for national security,' but also 'bad for the American dream, for American kids who want to go to a nice university but can’t because their spot was taken by a foreign student.'"

Universities are caving to Trump with a stunning speed and scope
Some of the nation’s oldest and wealthiest institutions are swiftly bending to President Donald Trump, who is acting on longstanding conservative criticisms of universities as elitist and progressive.

some are wondering how this is all happening so fast. it's because we are watching the crumbling of a facade, the thin outer layer of something that has been consistently and relentlessly hollowed out by both parties, bit by bit, for decades. this shell was the fantasy world to which liberals clung.

This is completely fucked up. I know everything is fucked up, but THIS is why universities need to stand up and fight, not cave like Columbia did. NOTHING will satisfy them, and all the capitulation just leads to more demands and humiliation.
I’m told this is a real letter. It basically says, “We’ll destroy Columbia unless you destroy it first.”

You ever think about how Republican voters never need to urgently call their representatives out of fear that they're gonna collectively support the Democratic party agenda for no explicable reason? Must be nice!

They gave up private student records, let ICE on campus, suspended and expelled students, let the police brutalize students, removed members of the faculty, etc. It was not enough. It'll never be enough because the goal is to destroy academic institutions. Columbia did not understand that.

It’s clear that the leadership of the Democratic Party is absolutely fucking worthless and has no grasp of the moment they are in.
The Senate just voted 67-32 to confirm Lori Chavez-DeRemer as labor secretary, which means a lot of Dems voted for her. During a fucking constitutional crisis.

Fascism (and absolutely fucking bullshit). These schools all need to band together and then not budge. Not just push back only to cave layer saying they had no choice.

My school is on the list, facing the same threats. How schools respond is crucial: will they cower in servile displays of regime deference, or will they fight to maintain the ideals of academic freedom and critical citizenship? If the latter, the fight must be collective. There is no other way.
First, pull funding from Columbia and start to lock up its students. Second, threaten other universities with the same.

All 60 schools on this list need to join together to fight this assault on academic freedom.

Defend the liberty of a stranger as you would defend your own, or that of a loved one, because that is what's actually on the table—whether we are a society that will sit still as our neighbors are snatched in the night, and disappeared into darkness, or a society that will fight for each other.

Columbia University sold out to fascists and brutally cracked down on kids whose only sin was opposing genocide.

The fascists threw the University under the bus anyway.

I feel like there's a lesson in there about complying with fascism.

As a society we came together and told young people not to protest genocide or we'd violently suppress them and ruin their futures, and now a lot of liberals are looking around like "Why aren't they in the streets right now?"

It's because we completely abandoned them last year, when they needed us.
