I love the Outsiders Arts Club and I love working with artists! what I love maybe slightly less is the number of artists' websites which do not offer any information on, say, whether they have gallery representation, where they live, how one may contact them, or indeed absolutely anything useful

not that it's not a complex issue but it drives me *insane* that we've been watching the world set itself on fire over the past decade or so partly because of people quite suddenly going from Not Very Online to Way Too Online and governments now want to recreate that experience with teens everywhere

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

if there is any kind of ideological competition happening geopolitically, it's one of liberalism versus resurgent nationalism and religious fundamentalism and liberalism has really not done a good job of making the case for itself or acting decisively to preserve its interests.

Just saw a video about the "rice vs. wheat theory of culture" about how the need for cooperation around rice farming fosters collectivist culture while rainfed wheat fosters individualist culture and I have no idea if it's bunk but it's interesting to consider it could work in Italy as well as China

Convictions of this kind are very rare in Italy and often don't stand up on appeal as the law makes it a very hard offence to prove. It is the first time that members of Casa Pound have been convicted of the offence.
A court in Bari has convicted 12 members of Italian far-right grouping Casa Pound of "reorganisation of the dissolved fascist party". Sentences vary between 1 year 6 months and 2 years 6 months. They have also been deprived of the right to vote and to stand for election for 5 years.
