Part of being a dad is seeing Apple tell me to listen to the podcast after watching the episode and saying “no, I don’t think I will.” Every. Single. Time.

There's this weird mindset that voters won't object to a breaking of tax promises is if it's done in a sufficiently convoluted way. Like they're fae creatures impressed you found a way around their contract terms or something.

Utterly ludicrous framing from @nytimes.com here, treating Pete Hegseth's arguments as if they're legitimate. The casual reader will be left with no inkling whatsoever of how unusual and corrupt an abuse of the process this truly is:

Maybe my strongest take about social media is that people treating opinions about pop culture IP as rhetorical blood sport is a signal of how rotten all our brains have gotten.

Reporter: Mr. Mamdani, is it true you called Trump a wretched ass-weasel with no redeeming qualities?

Mamdani: Well, I

Trump (interrupting): It’s ok, just say yes. *sigh* Who could say no to those eyes… that smile…

antisemitism exists, it is on the rise right now, it does not always come in the shape of Nazi governments.

and also, forever and ever, Rabbi Hillel taught: 'that which is hateful to you, do not do unto others. That is the whole of Torah, the rest is commentary'
As a Jew, I've always worried that "Never Again" would mean "Never Again TO US," but it's wild to see someone just come right out and say that.
Sharing the video of this because it’s such a ghoulish thing to say that I’m honestly in disbelief that I even heard her properly

A reminder that seven years ago almost to the day, the CIA determined that Mohammed Bin Salman ordered the killing of @washingtonpost.com journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

I hired and worked with Jamal for a year.

Just finished reading The Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei. When I got close to the end I started putting it down every few pages and then going right back because I didn’t want it to end but I also wanted to know what happened. Always a good feeling from a book.

Remember the recent middle-of-the-night apartment building raid where children were dragged outside naked & zip-tied in the street while black & Latino residents were _sorted by race_ and piled into separate vans while their apartments were ransacked & robbed? That raid? So it resulted in 0 arrests.
