What the Dems took from Watergate was that they (thought they) could count on the GOP to do the right thing for the country when the chips were down. The GOP internalized that they made a mistake. I think the last 50 years flow from those lessons.

I think new lessons are now being learned.
Pence "said Heritage had 'fallen' because it had embraced elements of isolationism, stopped backing Ukraine in the war with Russia, supported some tariffs and backed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as HHS secretary, among other things," including that they "have been willing to tolerate antisemitism."

I suspect that what's gonna happen is Bari Weiss will be quietly sidelined (if not fired) but the descent of CBS News into conservative propaganda will continue under whoever runs it next all the same because that's what the owner of the network wants.

This is what Bari Weiss et al think "censorship" actually is; when subordinates criticize their superiors. That has been the bedrock of the entire "cancel culture" discourse in elite media; rage at the idea that students, women, journalists, interns, etc might be able to speak against the boss.
The CBS reporter who led the story calls pulling it a "political" decision.
"The decision was made after Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief of CBS News, requested numerous changes to the segment."

CBS News pulled a ‘60 Minutes’ segment about a prison in El Salvador one day before it was set to air because the Trump administration declined to participate.

Just a week ago, 60 Minutes reporter Scott Pelley said the new owners had not meddled in content decisions. That clearly changed today. The only question is why and given the folks involved (ellison, Weiss), we’ll probably learn the road leads straight to trump.
All of these links went to promotion of this story earlier today. All these links are dead now — that's how thoroughly they've scrubbed this.

In the summer of 1950 most US newspapers ran an AP story about how race had become the main issue in the upcoming Georgia governor's race. Segregationist Herman Tallmadge, governor from '47 to '55 and then a Senator until 1981 made a name for himself by refusing to "apologize for being a white man."

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.
