there's something objectively hilarious about 'ADHD Activists' like mate have you met ADHD types that's usually the whole problem
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

I'm basically a single issue voter in the next presidential primary: whichever candidate will take court reform the most seriously. You won't be able to govern without it.
we are going to have to start writing laws with explicit addenda preemptively rebutting the most likely bad faith interpretations from future fedsoc hacks.

Elon Musk is worse at hiding it but this is the problem with all billionaires: they are a threat to democratic governance. They have an insatiable need to own and control everything. If you want to be free you have to curb their power, and demand political leaders who understand that
Elon Musk is against the European Union being the European Union —he posted this after X (fka Twitter) was fined for violations of the EU’s Digital Services Act.

Lol, we don't have a bourgeois society.

We have one of petty financial aspiring lords.

Oh, if only we had a bourgeois democracy, and not a rentier gentry seeking to turn things into an aristocratic oligarchy.

California's Prop 13 is faithful to the intentions of the Founders
(Partially because they were also really worried about maintaining the privileges of the landed upper class, without a titled aristocracy)

Yeah, they fed generations bullshit beginning in the 70s and by the 2000s and by hurricane Katrina Iraq and GFC were already thinking they’d maybe fucked up a little. But it was way too late. The idiot children they raised to believe fairy tales are today’s American gentry.
I buy the Cabaret theory of modern politics: current right wing politics was, once upon a time, a thing elites sold to rubes while merely pretending to believe themselves while they pursued wealth, but now the True Believers are actually in charge and acting on sincerely believed insane nonsense.

This is "consent of the governed" shit we're playing with.

Accepting the Texas map is already pretty damn risky.

Rejecting California's is just outright declaring your intent to make Taney look like a unifier.

it is an underrated miracle of the 21st century that we really did massively, massively reduce bullying in schools
My experience as well. So far we're 2-for-2 on kids having a largely bullying/abuse-free middle school experience. Not without bumpy spots of course, but light years away from what I endured.

My hot take: the anti-bullying stuff has really worked, which is why conservatives are pushing back at it.
for what it’s worth I got roped into helping out with my sixth grader’s extracurricular thing so I’ve had more recent contact with middle schoolers who aren’t mine than I usually do, and biased sample/biased reviewer/etc but my verdict is that the kids are all right

I have been thinking and talking about Israel my whole life, and have taught about Israel, Palestine, and the Middle East since 2008, well before TikTok existed. I can attest that young Americans’ opinion of Israel has gotten more negative over that time, and the main reason is Israel’s actions.
Also apropos nothing else, public opinion was turning against Israel before TikTok went mainstream

“unitary exec theory - but for good” is going to be a persistent feature of discourse for the next three years. People are going to put their mental energy into imagining a democratic administration that uses the current Presidential tool kit. They are not going to plan for it being 2012 again.
Again (and realizing this should really be a blog) I'm sympathetic and consider myself part of Dunkleman's project of making democratic governments responsive and functional. But you can't hand wave the accountability stuff. The argument can't be a "unitary exec theory - but for good!"

I'm a smart dude with ADHD. I spent my entire academic career being told that I didn't need the accommodations I had and that I was just taking advantage of the system.

So here's my response: fuck off. All the way off. And then keep going. Y'all aren't in my brain, and you don't want none of this.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

The crash out of the last decade isn’t not because the divorced dads of America decided that Hillary Clinton was the manifestation of their greatest fears: HR and Family Court Judges.
this genuinely is a political movement of divorced dads who are mad that their families won't talk to them and think they can solve that problem by yelling at them more during the next custody hearing
