I'm in the long shot territory now, a cat by the name of Arthur went awol almost 2 weeks ago. We have searched the neighbourhood. In the Ravensbourne area of Dunedin. He is a friendly wee fella and loves the food so if you think he might be raiding the food bowl let me know

Hey the voter suppression laws mean you can only vote up to twelve days before November 7 and have to be registered thirteen days before that. Twelve days before Nov 7 is 26 October. THAT IS LABOUR DAY. THE ELECTION VOTING STARTS ON LABOUR DAY.

This is a great example of how genAI steals from us all on multiple levels. It's stolen a promotional spot for real books and authors, it's stolen a job from an actual journalist who could have compiled this, it's stolen an opportunity for parents to be recommended good NZ books for their kids
#4 sounds like a lovely book but I didn't write it. Have had whānau up and down the country send me clippings lol
Whoever put together this list that has been circulated to regional papers, didn't fact check.

Excellent coverage from Marc showing how not only did Cabinet pick the worst option available, they also turned “increased access to gender services” into “a webpage listing gender services” because they want their evil to cost nothing, too.

Asked about my thoughts on social media bans for under 16s->Simply I feel mixed. Some lives saved & some youth will manage better, BUT it's crazy that govts happy to regulate end users, misplacing responsibility, and ignoring the actual producers of the most harm: Big Tech. 🧵1/4
Australia’s social media ban launched with barely a hitch – but the real test is still to come
The policy to cut off social media access for more than 2 million under-16s remains popular with Australians, while other countries look to follow suit

This autism infographic was obvious slop but it made it through two rounds of peer review at one of the most trusted academic publishers in the world. How did that happen? What else has made it past? Hoping users of generative AI are so sloppy and expecting the public to catch them is not a solution
On the Factor Fexcectorn and autism bicycle AI slop study: I got an answer from Springer Nature this morning that this scientific paper will be retracted! 🧪

I am talking about Labour a lot because it’s deeply hypocritical to say you stand for Rainbow communities/ women and then say nothing official about a health change that targets trans youth/ is a trial balloon for future healthcare restrictions.
I’d say vote for those who have officially responded.

Let's also be perfectly clear that if Chris Bishop was the chair of a Māori entity, with union or left-wing party ties, this would be a front page A-list political story that would never stop running. Audrey Young knows the score. #nzpol
Let's be clear: this is not a 'scandalette'. This is a Minister of the Crown taking $27m allocated for one vote (housing) and spending it on another IN HIS OWN ELECTORATE. Amazing how Tory reporters can minimise this when it suits them.

As a former school board member, this is fucking outrageous. If you are a parent, find the details for your school board members and email them immediately to tell them you expect them to give effect to Te Tiriti whether it's mandated by legislation or not.
And just in from Seymour.
This is the intent. Forget whatever flowery words Erica uses. They want your child growing up in a NZ that is blind to its history. That’s not learning, it’s indoctrination.

This has beaten me. I know this government is 3 right wing think tanks in a trench coat, but this thread is just heartbreaking in a way I didn’t think they could make me. They’re actively re writing our history and trying to harm our children’s ability to grow into decent accepting people. #nzpol
I'm reading the new Social Sciences curriculum content and I wasn't prepared for how sad I would feel. We spent thousands of hours working with the previous iteration and the NZ history content and all that enthusiasm and excitement was just killed for something so bad.
