My nephews and nieces are like “yeah we have a non-binary kid and a trans girl in our class” no big deal. Mainstream transphobia from media and politicians is driving hate
Locking phones up in school - the time when children are already LEAST likely to be on them - will do NOTHING to stop bullying, poor mental health, isolation, or radicalisation!

It will also have ZERO impact on the rabid transphobia that’s perpetuated through the mainstream media & politics! 😖

Yup. The people shoveling money to hit trans people don’t just narrowly hate trans people, it’s part of a much wider strategy to make society regress to a stronger caste and oligarchic system, heavily beneficial to white cis men.

Their wins against trans people set precedent to much worse to come.
This is how transphobia's right wing fuckery blew open basic respect in the UK, there is absolutely no reason to expect now that being "women critical" is not also a protected belief, if you truly do not believe that women should just be reproductive slaves for cis men.

This will be used to abuse.

I fully believe in the corporate death penalty and believe we would be a better world if OpenAI lost its corporate charter and was forcibly dissolved.

I’m convinced the main reason Miyazaki films have a reputation for being “cozy” in the West is because he actually writes and animates long moments of quiet into his stories, whereas Western animated films are usually a nonstop parade of loud music, sounds, noises and neon colors.
Miyazaki: in this movie two young girls (one is a toddler) are uprooted from everything they know to start new lives near the rural hospital their mother is in; she is possibly dying of TB. Their dad works several hours away and they are largely unsupervised.

AI Bros: so homey! So comfy!

We don't count as human, political subjects. It is easy to be racist and claim to be a liberal by simply excluding undesirables from the category of human. An issue that has plagued liberalism from at least Locke onwards.
You know, I expect from the BBC the alignment with the incumbency and against those pushing for change. That's what institutions do. What I find unforgiveable is the hubris; the lack of any genuine curiosity about what it's like to be Black or Brown in Britain.
A white journalist at a white BBC has made what looks like a hit piece about a white writer charged with racism by a number of writers of colour. The twist? The BBC attacks the writers of colour.

Solidarity with all Black and Brown people fighting to be treated with dignity. Screw the racist BBC.

It is a low bar possibly, but seeing a politician win, especially a significant win, by galvanising disenfranchised voters on a platform of unity, compassion and hope, a platform which supported marginalised groups such as migrants and trans/non-binary individuals, feels pretty important right now.
