So here’s the thing - in Normal Times, yeah, being the unnamed source is useful and can help head off problems.

We’re not in Normal Times.

Either sign your name to your resistance against the fascist regime, or back it up with sabotage receipts, otherwise you’re just clout chasing.
A CBS News staffer told me this after Tony Dokoupil kicked off his CBS Evening News tenure tonight with a lengthy Pete Hegseth interview:

"If this is what Bari and Tony’s CBS Evening News is going to look like, then the we may as well just call ourselves Trump Administration State TV. Pathetic."

Since impeachment is one of the strongest checks and balances in the Constitution and also is a fairy tale, the resulting conclusion must be that the checks and balances system of government is nothing more than a theory.

one thing about congress that's become very blatant in my life is that they actually kinda enjoy the executive bypassing them all the time to do military shit. this way, their fingerprints don't have to be on any of it. preferring a lack of responsibilities and accountability to their own power.

Just woke up even angrier. Impeach, convict, remove. Draft articles now. Either we have a representative government or we don’t. Do not shut up about this until there’s a vote.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

guys, "the judges at the ICC are being sanctioned by the USA and can't access their iphones or bank accounts" and "why aren't any countries banning twitter or prosecuting elon musk for owning a site that manufactures CSAM" stories are the same story

there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

AI companies are playing a game wherein these computer programs are presented to the public as autonomous individuals capable of issuing a meaningful apology. The machine is just a machine. Human beings owe the apology for building the machine irresponsibly and unleashing it on the world.
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

The automated sexual abuse that Musk is doing right now should be national news. People should be going to prison for this shit. The logical conclusion to generative image creation and the internet, pure public automatic violence. Every Pizzagate fear just out in the open.

Or at least the right to change your name too, like he could have headlined as Chuck Trump Is A Pedophile Redd.
Just as a general rule I think I if a venue changes its name between booking and performance, you should have the right to cancel
Thinking of everyone who treated Trump as a serious person over the past few years and how we probably could have ended his career ages ago.

“When I saw the name change on the Kennedy Center website and then hours later on the building, I chose to cancel our concert”

Here’s the U.S. government being officially religious in a country with no official religion.

The math of DOGE was never remotely feasible and I personally think it's embarrassing we let musk pretend to be an engineer
On DOGE’s watch, federal spending did not go down at all. It went up. But is still led to cuts that closed offices, canceled programs and deprived people of food, medicine and other aid.

Prison guards:

- Watched a woman experiencing psychosis gouge out her own eyeballs.

- Ignored a man’s beeping insulin pump for more than 24 hours before he died.

- Left a man sitting in his own feces not eating for weeks, he lost 60 lbs before he died.

All in San Diego County, last ~5 years.
Now if we could just get people to view US prisons through the same lens they view CECOT.
