"Why can't we have a calm discussion about AI?"

Because folks don't actually want to discuss AI, they want blind submission to the ideological structures that motivate the contemporary use cases and deployments of AI. They don't want to hear the concerns except to dismiss them out of hand.

sometimes I just look at stills of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES to think about how well fed we were in the '90s. the drama! the precision! the atmosphere! the skill and imagination and absolute technical wizardry it took to make that show, my god
The two greatest American animated shows are The Simpsons, which ended in 1999 as an eternal treasure never to be tarnished by outstaying its welcome, and Batman TAS

I just kinda stopped doing my day job at this point but etsy keeps us afloat! 🤣💓

Holy shit. Ro Khanna fucking did it. He just went up there and read the six redacted names into record and threw down the gauntlet, challenging conservatives to join the fight against the "Epstein Class." Did we just see our generations' "Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?" moment?

Today, @wired.com is publishing dozens of those locations. Many are near schools, medical offices, and places of worship.

Vital work from @leahfeiger.bsky.social that I'm proud to publish.

I know the Sgt. Schultz routine seems to work for GOP legislators, but claiming you’re unaware of massively viral videos of ICE misconduct when you’re the director of ICE just makes you sound hopelessly incompetent and out of the loop.
THANEDAR: What did your ICE agent mean when he said, 'you raise your voice, I erase your voice' in the video all of us have seen?

LYONS: I'm not aware of that video. I can't comment

Navarro has repeatedly (and falsely) claimed that "illegals" were taking the jobs of Americans, including in this very interview.
If that's the case, then why is he now warning that job growth will slow amidst mass deportations? Shouldn't this be boom times for native-born workers?
Peter Navarro: "The jobs report comes out tomorrow. We have to revise our expectations down significantly for what a monthly job number should look like ... Wall Street has to adjust for the fact that we're deporting millions of illegals out of the job market."

Hundreds of kids are still detained.
