I have been thinking of and planning this zine for most of the year and finally finished it. Very proud of how it turned out.
New Year, New Zine!

"The Gentle Deadline" is part perzine about how I got my writing mojo back, part guidebook for ADHDers who want to commit to their writing, journaling and personal storytelling practices.

I made cute worksheets and everything! wildramppublishing.bigcartel.com/product/the-...
Honestly it's the Midwest way
Many Americans are terrible neighbors to each other, and that is why MN is striking everyone as extraordinary activism... when they are telling us that it is not. They're good neighbors!

It's no wonder that "being a shitty neighbor" is the hallmark of our domestic politics and our foreign policy.

I cry all the time and it's actually good for my mental health. I wonder what people who don't cry or feel like they can't cry do.
It blows my mind that some people don’t cry. I cried this week over a really good burger. I love crying.

ICE is still terrorizing LA. All day, every day. The Guard left and protests calmed down but they're still here. Our landscape doesn't lend itself to the same theatrics, they do need smaller cities for that but they're still here doing their thing and people are still organizing.

They’re coming after cities a tenth of the size, with ten times as many men, and THEY ARE FAILING. They have only succeeded in uniting every single person here against. They cannot win
And ICE was already sent packing from LA, which has a population of 4mil.

And then Chicago after with a population of 3mil.

They absolutely don’t have the numbers which is why they’re going after cities 1/10 of the size of their initial targets.

Huge accessibility upgrade for NYC. This is disability justice in action, and as always, when we improve accessibility for disabled people, it makes life better for everyone.
More public restrooms across our city?
Relief for all New Yorkers.

Head like a hoooole
To give you an idea of how cold it will be for the next 7-10 days: When I opened this graphic earlier, my literal reaction was “holy crap that’s cold!”

I think that’s context enough for the blobs of pink and blue.

Back in stock! (the first run was very small)
I'm stocked up on "The Gentle Deadline" zine. It's a perzine / interactive guidebook about writing and personal storytelling inspired by my later life ADHD diagnosis.

the system has no processes within it to contradict its own purpose
The failure of the American system to hold a single white man accountable has already cost the human species so much
The Trump administration is asking countries that want a permanent spot on his new Board of Peace to contribute at least $1 billion.

Trump’s reported duties would include: approving the board's agenda, deciding which countries to invite, and controlling the money

The Atlantic's story profiling government employees is heartbreaking. One was working on an artificial retina. One was a technical wizard in the Space Force with an advanced education paid for by you and me but was transgender.
The Purged
Donald Trump’s destruction of the civil service is a tragedy not just for the roughly 300,000 workers who have been discarded, but for an entire nation.

NEW: This week, Daily Show host Jon Stewart introduced his audience to Jenin Younes, describing her as a courageous civil rights attorney who had been canceled by both the right and left and therefore “must be doing something right.”

Really, she spent years undermining public health—and Democrats.

Minneapolis is turning into a galapagos of ways to fuck with people
People in Minnesota are now using their key fobs to trigger their car alarms from the safety of their homes when they see ICE walking around.

I am doing my best not to sink under all of this, but it is truly overwhelming.
ABC News reporting 1,500 active duty soldiers are on standby to deploy to MINNESOTA.

The soldiers are from the 11th Airborne Division, based at Joint Base Elmendorf--Richardson, one of the Army's premier infantry formations.

The division is also the military's leading formation for Arctic warfare

Been thinking about this one too. It is truly monstrous and goes beyond doing it for the money or even for the racism. It’s doing it for sick amusement—it’s just a bonus they get paid and (effectively) total immunity.
The more I think about this, the angrier I get. It takes a particularly virulent strain of sociopathy to sit and let hard-working people serve you a meal knowing that you plan to arrest them and send them off for deportation once they're off of work.

Really depraved shit.
A few days ago, Fox News was whining about ICE agents getting heckled at a Mexican restaurant in Minneapolis.

Meanwhile, in the town of Willmar, ICE agents had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, waited until it closed, then confronted and arrested three workers as they left.
