I left twitter long ago but stuck with more free alternatives until now.
I am a liberal (not neo) and post about bikes, magic, politics and urban policy.
Still exploring

I quit the former Twitter two years ago this week, and I am here to tell you that my online life got a lot better for having left it. In two years I've not been tempted to go back, and I haven't felt any penalty in either career or community for not being there. It's nice to be here and not there.

Chuck Schumer, still an unmitigated piece of disingenuous garbage.
! Chuck @schumer.senate.gov asks unanimous consent that the Senate immediately read and pass the bill to release the Epstein files, un-amended, "as soon as it comes over from the House." No objections. Motion succeeds. Bill is deemed to the Senate unanimously, will go to Trump to become law.

I know the woman who launched the To the Mountain Shuttle a couple of years back shut it down, and I’m not sure why. It is interesting to see other services pop up and I hope they will be successful. And maybe offer proof of concept for actual public transit to the passes.

Why, it's almost like having rich people paying their fare share is good for everyone!
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:
Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts
A millionaire levy in Massachusetts that New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani holds up as a model for taxing the rich has generated $3 billion more in revenue than expected without forcing...

Let’s be clear: The DOJ has already been subpoenaed. They’re legally obligated to release the full Epstein files—and they’re still dragging their feet.

It’s a shame we’ve even gotten to the point of needing a discharge petition.

I think that's the other reason I side-eye the "actually Northern racism is just as bad as Southern racism" takes a bit - because I certainly have heard sneaky Lost Cause/Northern Aggression/State's Rights types break that one out before.
Deflecting with northern racism is 100% part of the playbook of lost causers. I say this as someone who grew up in a place that was not that south that had family that believed in the "lost cause" of the south and would repeat how the north was just as racist, it was "economics" that caused the war

What makes a banana republic a banana republic is not any prosecution of the outgoing administration, but baseless, politically motivated prosecution. There is a whole literature which teaches that, if crimes against the public order occurred, failing to prosecute them hastens democratic decline.
