Worth remembering conservatives were very against declaring war against nazi Germany until the Japanese made it inevitable.
That the GOP is willingly going along with this is a remarkable political swing for them.

But finally it was foreordained the moment they went all in on Trump in 16 and then chained themselves to his rock after Jan 6.
the western alliance was born in the fires of the most catastrophic conflict in the history of the world. republicans are spitting on the graves of the dead. these men and women are human filth.

FWIW, there were 10 arguments in the October sitting, when Callais was argued. After today's opinions, the only justices who haven't written yet for that sitting are Alito, Thomas, and Gorsuch.

This is the funny truth about the dumb Dems are flooding the nations with illegal immigrants and votes.

When the reality is a good number of 1/2 generation immigrants are conservative voters.
And yes I understand that 1st/2nd Generation immigrants often bring an old-world conservatism with them -- it was true for my family, too -- but that doesn't mean I want grandpa voting solely on the views of homosexuality he held in pre WWI Anatolia.

trump getting his feelings hurt by european leaders is the culmination of this new type of guy that emerged in the last decade or so: guy who goes out of his way to be a huge asshole who then gets really offended when the people he's being an asshole to don't like him

Folks, it’s over.
Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "

what I really like about the way he frames this speech is that he doesn't naively describe the old international order as one without inequities or with wholly fair application of the rule of law, but as one where the gains were worth accepting those gaps

I guess the operating theory is that the continental army was an imperial force seizing UK territory from the King to colonize for itself?
Now, I’m no military historian. However, I’m pretty sure that’s not a common Revolutionary war tactic (and that’s ignoring the one guy firing into the air).

The Christian segment of the MAGA movement is very much their rage, rage against the dying of the light.
This is a change in generational demographics -- lotta people died over 10 years and a lotta people came of age--

and the more extremist fundamentalism becomes a chokehold and takes over the conversation, the more regular folks of values & conscience assume there's nothing in there for them.

Duh?
Gallup reports a 17-point drop in the percentage of US adults who consider religion an important part of their daily lives — from 66% in 2015 to 49% today. This is among the largest drops in any country over any 10-year period since 2007.

It's NOT a revival.
