Pentecostalism is an African American religious movement. There's been whitewashing. Charles Parham a racist gets credited as being the founder (he wasn't) came to L.A. and saw William Seymour's Azusa Mission and was horrified at what he saw. especially that white people who joined a Black church.
The origins of the Pentecostal church in the US were a lot more integrated initially. But, you know, Jim Crow and shit.

I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

Corporate Media is going to pretend that Trump is heartbroken about the two West Virginian National Guardsmen being shot in DC, but the entire point of moving a standing army into a peaceful city was to induce violence by The People to justify more violence by Trump on The People in retaliation.

NEW: The two shot National Guard troops never should have been in DC. More troops is no answer.

The violence is horrible and unacceptable. Trump, Pete Hegseth, and West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey never should have put the troops in this position.

I am a little tired of being yelled at for this but apparently not tired about: heroin addiction is not RFK’s problem. He’s a sociopath. Most addicts aren’t. Honestly, walk into an NA meeting, grab the first person with a few years to be head of HHS and they’d probably do a better job than Bobby.
This is what happens when you put a privileged, 14 year heroin addict in charge of health. Duh

I know that politicians absolutely need to offer a deeper vision than "we're not Republicans" in order to secure people's votes, but really, at this point, that could even just be "…and we'll fix what they broke (and what was broken before they started)" or even just "We'll Put A Stop To All This."
The EPA is starting to allow the use of pesticides containing PFAS on food. The move is part of an effort to roll back the regulation of PFAS — also known as "forever chemicals" because they don't break down easily in the environment.

Today, in Utah, homeowners *or renters* can simply buy a solar panel at Costco, take it home, and plug it in to a wall socket, like an appliance. It just sits there & trims about 15-20% off a residential power bill. If you move to another apt., you can take it with you.

#Finland will begin to #Russia - proof its rail network, integrate with EU train infrastructure.

The Finnish government has announced the conversion of its rail network from Russian gauge (1,524 mm) to European standard (1,435 mm).

almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

Something that has made me a prison abolitionist is seeing first hand how incapable the state is of running any place of confinement (prison, jail, psych hospital, etc.) in a way that is not wildly unsafe to both inmates and staff and that doesn't devolve into barbarism, abuse, and predation.
