stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

one of the agents said “okay we know” when we were whistling so i leaned in and whistled louder and he threatened to pepper spray me. i then said “are you scared of a fucking whistle dawg” and he very meekly said “no i’m not scared of a whistle”

This is the thing that I keep coming back to

“I didn’t vote for THIS” Okay, well, a *huge* number of people knew that if the guy you voted for won, this is exactly what would happen. So why did they know and you didn’t? What did you miss? Why did you get it so wrong?
I need people who were wrong about everything to actually look back and recognize that there was a reason they were wrong and maybe they need to update their understanding of the world.

Otherwise they don't really think they were wrong.

Our country was founded on resistance to a tyrant.
Attorney General Pam Bondi: "Our country was founded on law enforcement"
Bondi: "It's extremely organized. The signs they have are all matching, they're well written. And look at what's happening today. How did these people go out & get gas masks? These protesters. Would you know how to walk out on the street and buy a gas mask? Think about that. We're not gonna have it"

The only thing trans people are guilty of is being hot and/or spending too much money on Warhammer figurines.
Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind.

It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty.

Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face.

Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

If you work for ICE, quit now.

Your chances for future employment, meaningful friendships, and frankly, not getting shanked in prison are already pretty slim, but if you quit RIGHT NOW you might avoid the worst of what is coming.

Especially if you blow some whistles, and then testify.

Fixing your heart is, for us born into our arsenal of privilege in the world's most empire, both a lifelong undertaking requiring discipline, patience, perspective, and good teachers, and a necessary first step toward reclaiming your self.

It's our essential duty and our most precious opportunity.

Part of knowing US history is knowing about the genocide of native peoples, the slave trade, the failure of reconstruction, etc.

Another part is knowing about John Brown, the IWW, the 1934 San Fransisco General Strike, and others who worked against the above.

I know things can seem bleak. But history shows that standing up to Trump works. Maybe not immediately, but the man is lazy and stupid and craves easy wins. If you make it hard for him, he often moves on, seeking an easier target.
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

I have translated some of the highlights

hey I like that we're all posting thru it but I also wanted to say, in case anybody else is feeling it, that I'm pretty scared and genuinely think that we've passed a real rubicon in the past week or so and that being at the mercy of a handful of dumbfuck lunatics really does a number on your soul.

Happy MLK day, gang! Martin was a Democratic Socialist, anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist, thought white moderates were the bane of Black existence, and died on a trip to support a sanitation workers' strike!

Beware his sanitized and sanded-down edit!
Happy MLK Day!

I agree wholeheartedly. One of my favorite things about living where I do is that when I walk to the nearest grocery store there is a decent chance I will hear three or more languages being spoken by my neighbors along the way. It just feels so much more alive and vital than any homogenous suburb.
I realise I'm just a freak, but living in a multicultural city is the best thing of all time, it's just the best possible human experience and i can not understand why anyone on earth would be like "weve got to destroy this"

What I hate most about gen Ai is how it takes away the effort. When I saw art before, I knew that even if it shitty and bad, i could tell that there was someone who worked hard to make it happen. It’s why shit like The Room got popular, because you could see the earnest effort on display.

This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.
one of the most effective weapons we have against fascism is mockery, especially when its really funny
It occurs to me all the yelling at ICE in MPLS isn't merely funny. Getting made fun of like this is awful for morale. ICE is losing field officers faster than it can wave them through training, and a big part of it is how little of this these little weasels can take.
