Great thread.
I especially liked, "You cannot debate professional liars like Stephen Miller. You cannot find common ground. Why? Because *they are too weak to be worthy of trust*. They can only be opposed."

1. Today, I have a few things to say about that putz Stephen Miller. First, he’s been on TV a lot lately, because that’s how he pours more poison into the president’s already-poisoned brain.

Reznor’s utter speechlessness at what Cash did with Hurt is really beautiful

It was often said of Frank Sinatra that once he sang a song, it became *his* song ("New York, New York" was originally a Liza Minelli tune, for example).

Now imagine you're 70 years old and you do that to Trent Reznor.

little did i know it would lead me to an underreported industrial accident that may have released an airborne plume of radioactive debris over swaths of indonesia

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

Went for a pastrami sandwich today, and the other person who showed up early for the joint to open was also wearing a mask. I thought I'd taken a left into Wonderland. It's too damn rare.

Ieyasu-kun, the mascot of Hamamatsu City, is modelled on Tokugawa Ieyasu, a shogun who once lived there. He has piano keys on his hakama skirt (Hamamatsu is home to keyboard manufacturers Yamaha, Kawai, and Roland).

I like it when there are a bunch of people on here talking about a sporting event that I'm not watching.

It's like seeing a flock of pigeons eating a smashed sidewalk donut together. I'm not partaking, but you guys dig in.

Nothing good I've ever written anything longer than tweet length got that way without an editor; my best work absolutely all transformed by an engaged editor offering the right pushback and asking the right questions. Anyone who says they do best without an editor needs them double.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Here’s an angle for a journalist looking for a fresh take on the White House “Antifa” roundtable — most of the people who participated are employed by or have a direct financial connection to Turning Point USA. I think that’s pretty telling, no?

Fuck accelerationists of all forms.

That may not be the case here, it could just be stupid. Stupid is fucking dangerous tho too.

The closest No Kings location to me is a footbridge over a highway. The bridge is fenced, and it is impossible to leave other than walking off the two sides. Proud Boys have held rallies on the bridge. 4 skinheads could absolutely kettle this protest. NK is shit at choosing locations.
