JD Vance owns a company that buys American real estate and sells it to foreign investors. They specifically target Americans in crisis to buy their property for less than it is worth.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

To a first approximation: all of them.

I have traveled to 12-20 US cities every year for 25 years and every time I revisit one I see new public spaces, businesses, revitalized streetscapes, etc. Lots of new pedestrian areas and parks. River walks. Bike paths. Festivals. Free concerts. Etc.
Which US city has improved the most over the past 15 years?

There's a lot we have not visualized in a useful way.

One of the big ones is the SHIFT in govt employment from "people who cure cancer" and "people who make sure your Social Security comes on time" and "people who care for veterans" to "people who kidnap your neighbors."

That a Reagan judge would give up his lifetime appointment willingly because he feels a future GOP president has rendered that appointment meaningless in the midst of an authoritarian speedrun is quite remarkable:

Seriously, for their own good, Dems who voted for this need to not be saying “we did a good thing, this is why.”

The line needs to be “we fought like hell to get healthcare back, but Donald Trump was willing to burn the country to the ground.”
Durbin said critics of his vote “need to understand how the Senate works”

No, you have every right to run your own experiments, gather your own data and publish results that can be challenged through peer review. But just arguing about science is not science, it's just being an asshole.

Guy with no training besides ‘I don’t think Tylenol is cool’ vibes stands outside science lab and wants to weigh in on the peer review.
JD Vance: "Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, then you ought to criticize it and you ought to argue against it."

She’ll be big mad that quotes have left out that she said it’s grodie! And she isn’t defending it or whatever! But since she bookends this with 1. A confession of reasonable suspicion of crime, and 2. A nonsensical distinction between age 8 and age 15 as to what is fine for men to victimize.
First of all, a 15-year-old is not "barely legal." The age of consent in Florida is 18. So sexual behavior with a 15-year-old is rape.

Megyn Kelly is VILE trash for saying otherwise.

And Megyn Kelly is confessing to having insider information about what Jeffrey Epstein was up to but stayed silent.

Megyn Kelly is out here normalizing Epstein by arguing over what “type” of child he preferred. This is the GOP’s moral rot on full display — minimizing abuse, defending child molesters, and expecting America to swallow it. Absolutely not.

Earlier in the year I drove 9600 miles to do Milky Way photography.

Between that, work, my health, and the terrors, I'm exhausted.

I promised myself no more trips over 100 miles from home for the year, unless critical for the union.

I broke that promise Saturday.

Worth it.

Final version. 🪶

I think it’s really important to emphasize just what a terrible idea such a mortgage would be in real terms. Here’s for $350,000 at 6%

So yeah your house payment is $250 cheaper a month BUT your loan will end up costing you more than A MILLION DOLLARS.

Yesterday, when Bovino announced ICE would be returning to Little Village today, some of us donated and fundraised to buy out street vendors in the neighborhood. This morning, volunteers hit the streets at 6:30 am, looking for vendors to buy out. Tamales make an excellent breakfast.

IMO the rise of always-on nonsense and socials has not “leveled the playing field” so much as opened a platform for randos with agendas and no expertise. It’s a cool IDEA that information isn’t all being gatekept by the ‘Elite’ but damn has it turned the noise up, and we are all worse for it.
Why bother learning anything important when you can just go out there and make up whatever crazy nonsense you want?

Don't stop searching for joy.
Track it down if you can.
Look in cluttered bookstores, historic theaters, haunted playgrounds, and misty moors.
Take joy out for tea, adventure, and gentle mischief across the land.

Speaking of recovery, DBT (dialectical as in dialogue) is a therapy that focuses on quality of life, including practical ways to interact with crazy you can’t fix. Dems keep pretending that there is a way back to normal from where we are. But the reality is THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN. So DBT says,
SO MUCH THIS.

Until the remaining Dems finally accept the reality that a lawless, corrupt, fascist regime is in control of the entire federal government, we'll never even be able to START putting together a way out.

Not to be flippant, but Step One of ANY recovery is admitting you have a problem.
This is the thing that drives me insane. Things aren't normal; this isn't politics as usual. And when you accurately describe everything this administration is doing, it's so lawless, radical, and authoritarian that *you* sound like a partisan extremist.

Finally a measured take! Thank you for the nuance, Dems all along needed to feel out when the public opinion would turn. Any closer in to the holidays and Dems start catching heat. But election results speak loudly and it’s time to get back to work.
Simon Rosenberg is correct, as usual -- as a political matter -- Trump and the Republicans lost this shutdown badly, as they did the election.
And the cracks in the TrumpedGOP coalition are showing, and will only grow. It is Democrats' job to aid in turning those cracks into crevasses.
Some thoughts on what comes next for Democrats....👇
