It's not a new observation at this point but that wild Noem/Lewandowski story in WSJ really brings home the extent to which all the Trump 2 cabinet-level goblins see their jobs as flying private, doing short-form video, and screaming at underlings. Not being an expert in any of this part of me kind of assumed that vaccine work would continue in other countries and eventually the US would sign back on but apparently, no, if the US is out, the work stops because that's the driving market

a lot of "AI hype" discourse makes more sense when you realize that a lot of initial LLM/GenAI hype envisioned replacing artists and PhDs, and its actual impacts have been much greater on coders and other tech workers
creatives/experts see "AI" as underperforming hype, techies see it overperforming
