Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!
It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.
It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!

This camp is being violently evicted right now in the wake of a devastating shooting. People are mourning community members and simultaneously having their homes bulldozed. If you have t shirts, drinks, aspirin, new underwear, or cigarettes please bring to 1100 E Lake between 3-7 for distro!

A lot of Minnesota has been thinking about this.
I have written and deleted a lot of posts but I keep thinking about how the brutal assassination of Minnesota State senator Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their beloved dog Gilbert in June did not prompt this same level of calls for empathy, sympathy, and flags at half-mast.

A reminder that "But what if people on YOUR side are on the Epstein list?" is a bullshit argument, EVERYONE who was raping children needs to get into the bin right now, that's the deal here and it ain't exactly complicated
Bill Clinton mentioned during the Epstein press conference, which is a shock, because he's such a stand up guy with no former sexual misconduct accusations against him

There's a pro-school choice billboard on my ride home that's been pissing me off, but @raygunsite.com has a t-shirt for that. Hoping to get it in time to wear to the State Fair.

It is VIOLENCE. It is gleefully destructive. It is backpacks with inhalers, it is documents you need to apply for jobs, and most importantly it is the homes your most marginalized neighbors have pulled together from almost nothing. It is often the entirety of their possessions.
Press needs to stop repeating govt euphemism of “clearing homeless camps.” I’ve witnessed it in other cities: massive destruction of personal property. Not just bedrolls & tents; family photos, Bibles, meds. Times I’ve seen it people weren’t even given option to move their things.

I could go on and on about how my ebike has allowed me to keep cycling while seven months pregnant. Heck, not having to wrestle my toddler into a car seat Every Damn Day alone makes it worth its weight in gold.
This is a pretty solid explainer about what e-bikes are and the rules around them.
What I'd love to see is more coverage of what e-bikes *enable* people to do. Stories about disabled people who use them to gain independence. Or lower income people who benefit from not needing the expense of a car.

This is a fairly center of the road article but I feel like there's a push out there to label e-bike riders as anarchistic hooligans and as someone who recently discovered the joy of cycling, I don't like it

Cannot emphasize enough that the people who live in the city where stuff is happening will know stuff that the NYT opinion writers do not.
Note - Both the LAPD and LASD agree with the former and characterized this as peaceful protests against a sloppy LEO operation.
Fellow white liberals - ICE isn’t coming into our neighborhoods - I’m going to trust the people of Paramount, CA over some prestige journalist’s take.

What I really can't believe is that I went to Japan four times pre-GPS/smart phone and the worst thing that happened was one time I got on an express train out of Kyoto by accident and knew I had to get off when I saw rice fields.

And goddammit, yes, it’s good and just that politicians showed up on Lake Street. That community has ambient PTSD and many are living in terror right now. Someone with power - or potential power - demanding answers and demonstrating solidarity even in an information fog is to be applauded.
