This book banning bill would set the precedent that the Miller Test is irrelevant, which will legally imperil creators nationwide, especially queer creators. It died last year and it's shambling corpse has been trotted out to horrify us anew this year.

If you're in FL pls call your state reps.
Please email members of each Subcommittee and stress your opposition to the bills.

it's okay if you're an elected politician to post about affordability if...

(1) you share what you're doing to actually, practically help people, and...

(2) you're actively working towards getting ICE out of our cities and entirely abolishing and defunding the agency.

then it's totally cool!

the racism is obvious when countless non white people (gender irrelevant) are obviously what any non-racist person would call working class. but where did “no degree” come from? are the college grads working two jobs who still can’t make ends meet not working class, just because of a piece of paper?

The original concentration camps didn't start as death camps. But they did kill a lot of people through neglect, malnutrition, disease, and individual murders.

There's no distinction between this facility and dachau in 1933.

I’m convinced that all the people yelling at us to go get killed by our army and police think that we all wear cowboy hats while surfing and shooting guns in the air after our big breakfast of hamburgers and barbecue.
I think a lot of the world looks at the US and sees 330 million spoiled, stupid rich people and I wish it was easier to explain why that's wrong to people who've only seen New York and maybe DC or LA, but you can never convince them that they don't understand the whole thing.

Remember that one time when a court ordered ICE to stop doing this and people were like "see the system is working calm down" and then ICE ignored them completely and kept doing the same shit

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

This dynamic is basically unchanged in the decades I've followed US politics. The right raises a bullshit bad-faith objection, Dems try to change policy to address it, the right just repeats the bad-faith objection, Dems try again ... forever.
So in the end, what does this article amount to? Republicans are telling the same lie about welfare that they've told for 40 years despite consistent efforts — including many led by Democrats — to restrict and police it.

And in response, Democrats should restrict and police it even more.

On MLK Day, we’ll hear a lot of quotes from people actively dismantling his legacy, including the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

Dr. King’s work was never finished. It was interrupted.

I know I live in the Devil Nation but please understand I was just born here. My family and friends live here so I’m probably not going to leave. Also systematized class exploitation has left me with no safety net so I gotta keep going to work. Keep calling me a “USian” though I’m sure it’s helping

If the spiritual leader of your place worship sees these videos & isn't preaching that what ICE is doing is wrong, their silence is complicity.

The goal here is to do whatever it takes to force the MAGAs to back down before we get to a point of "the USA launches an imperialist war against the European Union."

Achieving this may require temporarily inconveniencing us Americans.

sorry!! tough shit!

If anything, King and Malcolm influenced each other. After the Nation of Islam booted Malcolm X, he met with Coretta Scott King and told her "I thought that if the white people understood what the alternative was that they would be willing to listen to Dr. King."

As usual, the demand is for Democrats to do what they're already doing. Social security and food stamp fraud are vanishingly rare. Minnesota is stepping up enforcement.

None of these safeguards have stopped Republicans from lying about fraud. Why would even more make a difference?

What’s happening here is accelerating and expanding no matter if you are still hearing about it or not. Minneapolis is a fascist police state where they are disappearing whole families while going door-to-door to ethnically cleanse the city.

It’s happening here.

Democrats should be out there saying that they will prosecute everyone involved. State and local governments need to be clamoring for ICE agents’ arrest.
ICE ended up returning the man, Saly, after realizing he’s a fucking US citizen with no criminal record, per his sister-in-law. These fucking animals.
