It is intensely funny to me that tech bro CEOs on an annual salary of 15 petabillion dollars think data centres can go in space because it's very cold but actually they would get obscenely hot because heat won't radiate into the vacuum of space

there’s just a certain type of person who would show up to your writer’s group wanting praise for presenting work but violently rejecting any form of constructive criticism that might improve it, and that right there is the target market for AI

Thinking of that time when my dad, himself a doctor, was thrown by a horse on a trail ride. Punctured his spleen, internal bleeding, got him to an ER just in time. He lived another 20 years. With two hours delay, probably wouldn't have.

We rushed to *nearest* ER. Not comparison-shop for ER prices.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

How can we draw more attention to this? They're Palestine Action hunger strikers who are now in critical condition in the hospital and the UK is just letting them die. It also feels like there is a media blackout

Like we don't think of Carrie Fisher as a nepo baby even though she clearly was, because she was great but also because, eg, Harrison Ford was previously a carpenter and weed dealer, not also a film star's kid. We don't want a world with no Carrie Fishers, but we've got one with no new Fords.

One thing that rankles with me - slightly - about nepo baby discourse, is that seemingly 90% of successful actors in the UK have a massive structural advantage simply from being born rich. To obsess over the 1% who also have famous parents as if THAT'S the problem, misses the forest for the trees.
Thing is as Nepo parent, you’re in a bind, you aren’t going to hinder your kids professional progress to make a political point. But surely you just say yes, their background helped.
New BBC interview w/ Kate Winslet saying she doesn’t like the term nepo baby and doesn’t think that famous parents actually translates to jobs and respect. This in the year her daughter was lead in a Wes Anderson film and her 21yo son’s film is premiering on Netflix with her directing like ffs

Also, this is fucking *McDonald's*, one of the two or three most visible brands in the world.
What this does to their brand is associate it more with the word "slop", arguably not an association they want reinforcing for their food.
absolutely, just like when many many people googling "Bill Cosby + rapist" greatly benefited Cosby's overall *brand visibility* (his brand is very very visible by now)

we are going to win
This Georgia flip is in a district that the GOP drew to drown Democratic voters in Athens into a neighboring red county, Oconee.

But tonight, Dems in Athens were out in FULL FORCE to swamp that gerrymander.

Home Office Ministers state publicly, on the record, that they are deliberately making life worse for older people and people with disabilities who depend on care services, but it's worth it because it reduces net migration.

I know its the end of the year and people are hard up, but we could really use some assistance here. The American medical system is rough to get through.

If @linkara.bsky.social might share?
I've been swamped with taking on the Cwej30th Anniversary celebrations, which has been an amazing job, but we're nearing the end of the year, and we could use a little push to get us through the bills we have from medical costs creeping up on us.

It says a lot that AI “artists” are so creatively bankrupt they think writing prompts is a difficult, arduous task.

You realize coming up with a prompt is what a real artist would call “having an idea,” right?

It took them weeks of sleepless nights to have some basic thoughts.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

Tribunal: *finds that Sandie Peggie harassed Dr Beth Upton*
British Press: Hahaha no, that's not the story we already decided we like, they must have said it wrong, we'll just say the opposite thing happened ☺️
#C4News went above & beyond, reporting:

"a nurse has won a harassment claim against Dr Beth Upton."

No she didn't. NHS FIFE harassed her, not Upton.

This is almost defamatory, & they mentioned none of the dismissed parts or the implications for trans women in SS spaces. I complained to Ofcom.
