We need folks to join us on Saturday, 2 PM - 4 PM US Central, to demonstrate how a shared use path will NOT help Lyndale out post reconstruction. A truly #LivableLyndale will be friendly to all forms of transit, even those without an automobile.
Stroll & Roll for a Livable Lyndale
Join Livable Lyndale for a rally to tell Hennepin County: We need a final design that is safe and dignified for people walking, biking, rolling, and taking the bus!

I need to find a decent spot in Minneapolis with bagel and lox. My search continues.
erinbiba.bsky.social
Ok there were two right answers:

S-Tier guaranteed NYC electoral win: Plain or everything bagel with lox, cream cheese, onions, and capers.

Runner up but also accepted: Bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything or plain bagel. (must list bacon, egg, and cheese in the correct order)

So what was the right answer?

For downtown Minneapolis to succeed, this is what we need. Small cafes everywhere *at street level*, safe traffic-calmed streets, activities for kids, and much more greenery (not just grass).
volts.wtf
Been strolling around central Madrid this evening, two observations:

1. The outdoor-cafe game here is so on point. They are everywhere! Tucked in every nook & cranny. Everyone is outside, *with one another*.
2. People live here, there are schools here, & so there are families with kids everywhere.

We are linking up the new Hennepin Ave bike lane directly with the Bryant Ave bridge over Lyndale. No turning on to Franklin required.

Minneapolis keep the park bathrooms open past Labor Day challenge.

I’ve been in Madison, Wisconsin for 20 minutes and it has already jumped towards the top of my favorite city power rankings because I’m biking and had to pee and went to a park with a bathroom and the doors were unlocked. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa I am inside the walls of your house

This billboard misses the point entirely.

We should be designing cities where adding 15,000 new neighbors doesn't automatically mean adding 15,000 more cars. The goal is to build places so good that people are freed from the necessity of driving.
Stage is set for a vote on a tense zoning fight that involves the North Side's Broadway
As charges of NIMBY-style narrow-mindedness fly about, Edgewater's alderperson is pressing for zoning changes she says can promote neighborhood vitality.

More yard sign news: ex Ward 10 council member Lisa McDonald (who once told me "go fuck yourself", unprompted!) is displaying a Lydia Millard sign in Ward 13 — alongside Frey and Palmisano.

Stopping for dinner at a local diner before an evening bike event. The main concern I have deals with the e-bike battery. I forgot to charge it! I should have enough to get home after, but I will really have to avoid big hills and golf courses if I can help it. This will be an interesting challenge.

The skyway system is an incredible asset in MPLS and we have to work together to find creative ways to keep the skyways open later! I’m excited about this new digital map and am working on incentivizes for skyway access, events, signage, and targeted approaches to bottlenecks.

Before (2012) / After (2025) Rue le Vau, Paris 20. The change here is so radical that perceiving the photos as aligned is difficult (see the orange building and the trees on the left). In 2024, this section was converted into a school street with a bike lane running through the greenery.

If you build it (a network of protected bike infra safe for all ages and abilities) they will come.

I’ve been amazed at how may @mplscargobikelibrary.com members and volunteers find our program before or immediately after moving here. So great to see.

I've been wondering why Dominion Voting Systems suddenly reached settlements with Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and One America News.

Turns out, it's been purchased by a Republican-owned election tech firm that insisted on it, per Axios.

bryn mawr neighbors with a letter in support of re-electing katie cashman in their paper the bugle titled “Keep the Momentum Going,” stating that “Councilmember Cashman's top priority has been community safety” and listing her accomplishments in office

static1.squarespace.com/static/6737b...
Keep the Momentum Going:
Reelect Katie Cashman
In 18 short months, Councilmember Katie Cashman has proven to be the energetic, effective, and collaborative leader Ward 7 needs. Drawing on a decade of experience in urban plan-ning, she chairs the city's Climate and Infrastructure Committee. Her effectiveness is reflected in widespread endorsements from DFL leaders like Attorney General Keith Ellison, former Governor Mark Dayton, State Senator Scott Dibble, State Representative Katie Jones, and Hennepin County Board
Chair Irene Fernando.
Councilmember Cashman's top priority has been community safety. She voted to approve the police contract to increase officer salaries and support recruitment while championing successful violence prevention programs like the Behavioral Crisis Response Team. She is also a tireless advocate for traffic calming measures that make our streets safer.
Her commitment to our community is evident in her accessibility. She is a familiar face in Bryn Mawr, regularly attending BMNA meetings and personally visiting problem areas to see residents' concerns firsthand. This hands on approach, combined with her monthly "Coffee with Katie" meetings and detailed newsletters, keeps our community engaged.A true collabora-tor, Katie has cosponsored an ordinance with every single council mem-ber, proving her ability to build consensus and focus on results, not political blocs.
Katie has a clear vision for a vibrant, 24/7 downtown that restores property
values and eases our tax burden. She expertly uses legislative directives to demand data and transparency, authoring analyses on traffic calming and skyway access. This data-driven approach helps secure funding and empowers residents to advocate for realistic solu-tions.
While her opponent also cares for our community, she has not demonstrated the same clear vision or deep knowledge Katie has shown. This difference is evident in the League of Women Voters forum (search You'Tube for: "2025 Minneapolis Ward 7 Ca…

The standard for advocacy has to be higher than just saying "streets are dangerous".

We need to be the ones who can explain why a design like this is safe and then demand it. That's the real work that gets good projects built and I'd like to see more safe streets advocates learn more about design.

How to design safer intersections:

1. Near-sided signals. Placed before the bike/ped crossing, they prevent drivers from creeping into the path.

2. Pavement differentiation. High-contrast, colored crossings (like this red asphalt) clearly establish priority and command driver attention.

Trikes do so much.

I saw this e-trike owner on our way home late last night (& again just now!).

They have a ton of string lights and it looks SO cool all lit up at night.

We exchanged compliments about our different, bright and colorful trikes as we passed on Bryant.
