"Fietser".... happiest cycling, in 'normal clothes'. Cargo bike in South Wales. Ban SUVs!
Other ways to keep warm that do not poison children:

* walking
* cycling
* wearing a coat
This is why the regular engine idling from drivers at school pick up and drop off should not be happening. You might be keeping warm, but at what cost to all the other children who get the pleasure of breathing it in as they walk to school. Especially bad for young lungs. Please don't do it. 🙏

👀 👈 Me when families I know tell me they just spent the weekend at Center Parcs
It’s insane that millions of people board planes every year to visit Amsterdam, seeking a glimpse of human-scale life. Safe streets and people-centric design shouldn't be a vacation luxury, they should be the standard at home.

Bumblebee queens emerge from hibernation in spring. Keep your eyes peeled this month for early emerging Tree and Buff-tailed bumblebees 👀

Have you spotted your first bumblebee of 2026?

At least BBC Breakfast have done another "but illegal e'bikes!!!!!" Piece this morning 😬 so that'll no doubt solve the actual issues.
If nothing is done & the existing trend prevails, there will be 106 road deaths on Birmingham’s streets under the next council administration’s four year tenure ☠️

Imagine there was a poison gas leak in Birmingham that was projected to kill that many people, & politicians had no real plans to fix it
We've joined with 15 local and national organisations, setting out 10 practical steps to address the city's road safety emergency and prevent needless deaths on our city's roads.

Sorry if this is a question with an obvious answer 🤦‍♀️

But....I'm just about to buy a bike cam, and they all seem to record onto memory card (micro SD etc).

My Q is.... how do you get the footage off that memory card to upload it when reporting close passes etc? Onto the OpSnap portal and the like?

Good move, and hopefully just thr start of some tighter regulation and removal of 'self reporting'

When analysis is not analysis.

Let's come back to this when there is some actual data in what the LTN has done shall we? Rather than what a newspaper with an agenda says it 'will' do.

I'm always shocked that ppl argue "pedestrianising streets/charging to park will kill businesses",given that these massive shopping centres -where ur required to park,& walk round shops in pedestrian areas-are perpetually full to bursting.

I guess anywhere's walkable as long as its from ur car huh?

The commodification of play is a scandal. Indoor play areas that have to be driven to, soft play, trampoline parks, expensive 'experiences' that have to be booked & organised, & attended by adults for the duration.
When all kids actually need is green space and a safe way to get to it.
parent eventually drives child to park for the always exciting pre-organized play date.

Imagine if cars were this difficult to kit out
✅ Ordered the light from a US bike shop.

❌ Not a single one can get me the proper cable extensions so that it can be properly wired to a long Urban Arrow.
I'm going to upgrade my Urban Arrow light myself. The stock one is trash and while I'm not 100% confident in my ability to do this, I think I'll try anyway.

As far as I can tell, these two things are all I need to order. This light supposedly has great coverage and compatible wattage

I once accidentally sat& chatted to,& had lunch with, Raheem Stirling at Alton Towers.
Despite multiple ppl asking for photos from him etc as we sat, I didnt click that it was even someone famous.

It wasn't until my husband came back from queueing for a ride& stood opened mouthed at the table.....
My phone just reminded me that exactly 3 years ago I was doing a charity gig in a restaurant for a footballer who I didn’t really know but turned out to be quite famous actually

Every time I see stuff like this:bike racks against walls, broken, hidden;signage blocking cycle routes&pavements,I think about how drivers would react if the equivalent was done to them.
Build parking spots...with a 2foot wall that you have to get your car over to park in.
How would that go down?
I genuinely wonder sometimes what people are thinking.

Absolutely 💯 this.

Wear jeans.Wear high heels. Or trainers.Joggers or a dress.A big coat,or a poncho. A bobble hat.A cycling helmet,or ear muffs if you want.

I am totally all for 'normal' biking whenever it suits.& if biking isn't the right tool for the job,or just for the day well...then don't!
Winter biking (& all biking) is not “all or nothing.”

Bike when it works for you.
Walk/take transit/drive when it doesn’t.

Use the bike & weather gear you have.
Add/upgrade as you see fit & can afford.

You may be surprised at what works.
Just got back from biking home and I have to say as someone who also drove someone's car in the snowfall for a little bit today, I felt safer and more in control on my bike then the car.

And I don't even have fat tires or studded tires. Just my regular road bike tires.

17yr old passed her driving test last week.
As I own a small hatchback, I've put her on my insurance (which cost over £800!).

She's just put petrol in it for 1st time and is fuming at the £50 odd it costs.

Car ownership is a scam. And forced car dependency is an absolute scandal.

This is what happens with hospitals in Wales offering free parking. Its mayhem all the time - this hospital is surrounded with huge car parks which are always full. The Royal Gwent in Newport centre is the same: queued out to the road at all times.

Once had a friend pick us up coming home from holiday in her SUV. Could not get our 3 suitcases into its boot.
The same 3 suitcases that had previously just about fit OK into my Fiesta's boot.

SUVs are only good at hogging public space. Nothing else.
Have successfully transported a full height fridge freezer in a two door ford fiesta.

But also there's this weird myth that SUVs are big on the inside just because they're big on the outside. They're not. Almost no SUVs can take three kids car seats across the back, for example.
As someone who has crammed an entire PA into the back of a Kia Ceed, I’m not sure this justifies an SUV either, tbh
