Holy moly: Seattle’s millionaire tax, passed last year, is expected to bring in $115 million in its 1st year, way more than the $50 million anticipated.

The funds will go to the city’s new social housing developer publicola.com/2026/02/11/t...

(Is NY Gov Hochul paying attention?)
Seattle’s millionaire tax is a huge success. Here is how grassroots groups beat big money and are now raising tons of money for mixed income, rent stabilized housing. (We call it “social housing.”)

The problem with just advocating for ICE to leave Minnesota but not to dismantle it entirely is that they are capable of doing this again, any time, anywhere.

Don’t advocate for the harm to continue elsewhere. Advocate for the harm to end everywhere forever.

This is really important to me. So many Minnesotans have been activated by this experience. We've been a very politically engaged place, but I think we're about to see actual civic activity go off the charts. We (the local politics sickos) need to bring people in with grace.
And I know lots of people have very strong views they are not willing to flex, but if there's a way you can welcome us not-perfect newcomers to walk with you, we're willing to learn and keep helping.

The City will spend more than $250M in 2026. That's for 600 sworn officers, fewer than three dozen of whom live in Minneapolis.
If you thought MPD overspending their 2025 overtime budget by 50% was bad, get a load of 2026: "We have spent all of our overtime budgeted for police and fire this year in the first 3 weeks of January."

Reminder: in the 1932 election, FDR vs Herbert Hoover, height of the Great Depression, in the decisive, blowout election that lead to the New Deal…Roosevelt received 57.4% of the popular vote, while Hoover garnered 39.6%.
New Strib poll confirms my rough guess: 1/3rd of Minnesotans are shitheads who support ICE, but 2/3rds are with us. 69% in the ‘burbs! (Abolish ICE, like Defund the Police, is a public-opinion loser. Still, 79% say ICE should abolished OR reformed.) www.startribune.com/poll-trumps-... (gift link) 1/

I would add: these are the five consistent Cs of Amy K: Canned, cautious, calculated, careerist and cowardly.

Will she win? Yeah. Will she build up and invigorate and inspire Democrats? Nope. She will do the opposite for the DFL brand.

(Which is why GOPers and "centrists" like her.)
Amy Klobuchar’s Record on Trump Is Shameful - Racket
As Minnesota's senior senator runs to replace Tim Walz as governor, her votes and positions on Trump, ICE, and labor should be disqualifying to progressive voters.

Three thoughts.

1. It’s always been about the white nationalism

2. He is returning to the old favorites because his support is waning

3. He dabbled with this trope before but would always leave a hair of deniability. Going straight there also seems like a sign of weakness

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

Better yet, Delta could offer freed detainees a free flight home to Minneapolis.
Ed Bastion’s bio: “Ed’s values-based leadership../guided by empathy, humanity and devotion to service…”

Sure, Ed. Maybe use some of that “humanity” and speak up for what’s happening in Mpls- one of your main hubs. #Delta
a woman reached out to donate 500,000 delta skymiles to get people home to MN as they are released from custody in TX.

we're getting flights booked today. it should be enough to get at least 15 people home.

delta should be doing for free since they take ICE money.
