This fall, I spent 10 days camping in Paris and biking everywhere. (Our campsite was a 35-minute bike ride from the Louvre, mostly on bike lanes.) So for 10 days I was passed by hundreds of Parisian women, young and old, wearing the most AMAZING shoes, coats and scarves. High fashion & biking!
carol also claimed this is why @wedge.live "targets" her at @naomi111.bsky.social's campaign finance hearing. she once suggested to me that women don't bike because we have to wear cute shoes or something. tired of hearing this woman's hang ups about image

Did Hodges mess up big time and lose the election over this? Yes. Has Frey messed up like 1000x worse but somehow got reelected twice? Also yes! Did the Strib clearly hate Hodges but love Frey? Yes again!

Good story in the Strib about climate change in Minnesota. The charts are especially revealing.

Note to fellow Boomers in Minneapolis upset about the Senate Democrats caving yet again:

#1: This is precisely why The Youngs have embraced the DSA and why you should the same. Or at least quit demonizing young Dems who are looking for big change. The DSA caucus is the future.

Love love love my senator from Minnesota, @smith.senate.gov .
I will not support this bill that completely fails to help Americans afford their health care.

Trump and R’s have more than doubled Americans’ health care premiums, and for 40 days they have refused to lift a finger to do a thing about it. In fact, they’ve made it worse by taking food from kids.

Attention: @klobuchar.senate.gov and @smith.senate.gov
Don't do the GOP's dirty work for them. GOP has the voted. Let them end the filibuster; call back Congress and let the GOP take 💯 of the credit for their policies.

I mean, sheesh, read the room. Don't make a deal.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Almost everything Elizabeth Spiers says about Andrew Cuomo and his rich donors also applies to Jacob Frey (minus the sex scandals). I so wish these guys and their world view hadn't prevailed in Minneapolis.

Such a good thread! I'm so sad/mad that the forces of ratfucking, fear, racism, division + $$$$ returned Frey to office. And I have such love & pride for the amazing progressive community & allies who work so hard for a better city. We're still here. We persist. We ain't leaving. Onward.
Good morning. I woke up at 7AM and have had a cup and a half of coffee already.

A lot of people outside Minneapolis probably are wondering what's going. What's happened to the "Midwest Mamdani"?

And a lot of people who just learned about us this year are probably confused. It's okay!

If he does pull this out, there's a book to be written about how he and his cronies transformed one of the most democratically engaged cities in America into a bitter, cynical place where a widely despised mayor can somehow magically win three terms.
Minneapolis mayoral results will continue to be tabulated tomorrow. Mayor Jacob Frey says "it looks damn good for us." He says "Minneapolis is on the rise."

This is why I'm ranking @dewayneforminneapolis.com, @omarfatehmn.com and Jazz Hampton for mayor. Eight years of Jacob Frey has done so much damage to our city and prevented so much progress. Frey is bad news. We deserve better! We can do better. Liam knows his stuff.
I’m asking everyone to vote for a new Mayor by Tuesday and rank all 3 of Omar Fateh, Dewayne Davis, and Jazz Hampton in whichever order you prefer. I’ve worked at City Hall for the last 4 years and from my personal experiences I believe the City desperately needs a new mayor.
