So old I remember when Minneapolis Issues List was the new, edgy medium!!!!!

This is why I think the next Democratic president needs to use the EXACT tools that SCOTUS has handed Trump. Don't leave room for any distinctions.

Impound funds for deportation. Give ICE the USAID treatment. Refuse to collect government-backed debt. Purge MAGA loyalists from the executive branch.

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

I went through this with my dog this summer: hospitalization, $4,000 in vet bills and I was SO excited, almost dancing in the street when the dog finally pooped again. Thank God for antibiotics, etc!

Tonight a resident posted a picture of racist and Islamaphobic language written on Johnson street that called for @omarfatehmn.com to be deported and wished death upon the Somali community. @doronclark.bsky.social and I showed up right away to get this racist garbage off of our streets

Definite “'It's one banana, Michael. What could it cost, $10?‘“ moment from Ward 10’s Lydia Millard. Renters need protection now, not when your pigs fly.
dexanderson.com
"the best rent control is a thirty year mortgage" is a hell of a thing to say in a ward that's majority renter.

if i could buy a house, i wouldn't need rent stabilization, LYDIA.

The people running Minneapolis keep alleging some boogeyman secretly defunded the police but as far as I know, cops still get paid. Some yield enough at side hustle cash to buy homes in Florida. Meanwhile the MPD budget keeps going up. Someone is lying or these defunders are incompetent.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

She wants to challenge Frey as being too leftist, too woke, not pro-police enough.

She is so endlessly canned, cautious, calculating, cowardly and careerist. So done with Amy K.

Once again, the League of Women Voters needs to stop hosting debates, especially “all candidates “ debates. LWV debates usually feature lousy, stilted question, no follow-up—it’s all very dull and dumb. Their format hasn’t worked in decade. Just stop.

For christ sake don't vote for Angie Craig
racketmn.com
Craig "told the audience that inviting digital assets into the financial system should be apolitical. Her presence on the cusp of an expensive campaign suggested otherwise.”

Ugh. It doesn't sound like it was written by a human being. It may be even worse than AI. It's just word salad. I don't have any sense that Carlbom met Dex and Luna and interacted with them. It's like robot speech. This is why conventional politicians/staffers are failing the moment.

A friend and I were walking our dogs along the Minnesota River in Bloomington a week ago and I felt like I was up north in early May---we were being swarmed. It was almost bug net level. And I need mosquito spray to be on my openn porches, which is unusual in September in Minneapolis.
lynnellmick.bsky.social
Is it just me over here in southwest Minneapolis...or anyone else noticed that the mosquito population has seemed to surge in the last couple of weeks? I'm a camper; I'm used to bugs. And I'm using bug spray to go on a walk or sit out on my front porch. Did the $$$ for mosquito control get cut?
