Here to stay but I totally get why people would leave. Esp marginalized folks who don't get as much support (I remain convinced the industry loves its marginalized debuts but hasn't scaled up to supporting long term careers)

You should be concerned about the rate of authors leaving publishing. Especially from marginalized communities. This year I have seen so many authors just pack it up and go. And it's only getting worse.

Just bc a book contains a protagonist between 10 and 30, especially a female protagnoist, doesn't mean it's YA. Just bc the book is written by a woman (or someone you incorrectly assume is a woman), doesn't make it YA. Just bc a book is fun, written colloquially, or has romance doesn't make it YA.

I have kind of the same problem - I tend to come up with a few really big and awesome scenes but have no idea how they all fit together. 😖 Studying story structure has helped a little with that, but I still have trouble sometimes.
