with congress literally and figuratively shut down we are turning to our most fundamentally democratic institution (hours-long zoning meetings where people yell at you about "scale")
The National Trust for Historic Preservation wants destruction of the White House East Wing halted, saying it's "deeply concerned that the massing and height of the proposed new construction will overwhelm the White House itself." savingplaces.org/press-center...

The optics of Trump building a ballroom that 99.9% of Americans will never set foot in while millions line up for food banks are worth more than any policy paper or economic proposal. This image is a visceral punch in the mouth that needs no words. It should haunt the GOP for a generation.
a live look at the demolition of the White House's East Wing for Trump's ballroom

the president has destroyed the east wing of the white house without so much as a word of input from anyone else to build a royal ballroom paid for with bribes
NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.

what trump brought to the republican party, more than maybe any other thing, was contempt for virtue, and he’s demanded that republicans abandon any virtue they might have once had.
It is not so long ago that disability policy was bipartisan. I taught at the Bush School, and George H.W. Bush would talk about his pride in signing the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Every once in a while during the 2024 campaign, I'd meet parents of disabled kids who were part of Moms for Liberty or people who taught autistic kids. @slooterman.bsky.social writes how they are afraid right now as Trump targets special education staff.

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

At what point will our media ask about Trump’s obvious mental decline? He’s so far gone that he does not remember he was president in January 6, 2021
Which, yes, they are against that in both theory and practice.

The SpEd system in this country is set up in a way that families know they're entitled to certain things but also know they have to fight tooth and nail to get what they deserve.

They're tenacious experienced fighters who'll do anything for their kids. These assholes just sucker punched them all.

Here’s the thing about butthurt Yankees fans - you can’t be the team of “27 Rings” and talk about how you have to be a Yankees fan because you only rot for winners and then whine when everyone dances on your grave. If you’re the Yankees you gotta not get gentleman’s swept at home.

i know hegseth's speech was intended to tell the military they won't get prosecuted for war crimes and beating your wife won't hold up getting promoted to O-4, but bringing in trump fresh from death's door is a really persuasive way to unconsciously tell them the crimes jubilee may not last too long

Just wondering what the best way to characterize the Trump administration is in light of today's unhinged, authoritarian speeches by the president and Secretary of Defense Hegseth.
I find this framing—as a “Harris escalation”—off base. Harris was asked about this at a Town Hall because John Kelly, Trump’s former Chief of Staff, labeled him as such. She had previously said this label was accurate in her interview with Charlamagne the God, so it was not even breaking news./1
