i am generally a little eye rolly about “general strike” calls, because, like, this shit is a lot more complicated than just saying the words on social media, but what’s going on in minneapolis looks — at least from the outside — like a really impressive act of solidarity

This essay by @aselrod.bsky.social is devastating but persuasive. A must-read. A one-off electoral victory (which itself is not a given) is unlikely to save the Republic. And the international order is irreversibly altered for the worse.

for all the talk of needing to primary democrats who voted for increasing ICE funding*, suozzi's the only one left to go after, most of the others already *are* being primaried. have at it, new yorkers!
FWIW:

Golden is retiring.

The filing deadline has passed in NC; Davis is the only Dem running.

The filing deadline has passed in TX; Gonzalez & Cuellar both have primary opponents.

Gillen has several Dem opponents as well, as does Perez.

If you want to primary Suozzi, you still have until 3/30.

I don't want to downplay the evil of Trump, but I'm seeing people say the board of peace is like some plan to consolidate global empire and I feel its much more likely its a way for him to take bribes

I am the most racist italian on long island and I support ICE. My grandparents came here the right way, by doing it in the 1930s and being from Europe. They also knew how to properly integrate even though they never learned English and never associated with any medigans

The war powers resolution to block further military action in Venezuela by Trump is currently winning by 1, with all Dems + Massie and Bacon supporting, but the Rs have flown Wesley Hunt back to DC and are holding the vote open as he makes his way to the Hill from Dulles airport

Gillen can be reached at 202-222-5516 or 516-739-3008. I've called her twice today and gotten right through each time. Politely tell her receptionist she will never get your vote again because she is a fascist, and that you will work to unseat her in a primary.

New York/Nassau County Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs—Schumer/Gillibrand/Jeffries/Gillen/Suozzi's guy—oversaw the only red wave in the US in 2025 and cost the Dems the House in 2024, & he still has his job. This should be a national political scandal. I've never seen anyone else talk about it

I think we're going to see a whole lot of 'fuck you, ICE' from juries. they're going to try and weed out decent people from selection but they're going to fail.
based on the coverage i read, i legit expected him to be convicted

tapping the sign for the 7 Dems who voted for the DHS appropriations bill
Incredible cross-tabs from the latest NYTimes/Siena poll (www.nytimes.com/interactive/...)

Disapproval of ICE, 63%, approval 36%

Among women: 70% disapproval, 29% approval

Among 18-29s, 79% disapproval, 19% approval 👀

Even among white people, 57% disapproval, 42% disapproval

This is 100% FALSE. Immigration judges do NOT play any role in issuing administrative warrants. They are generated and signed by ICE officers themselves. ICE’s own training materials say they can’t be used for a search of a home!

Here’s a blank warrant form. Note who signs it.

Matt Taibbi criticizes the ICE protests in Minneapolis, and says Martin Luther King Jr. would not have approved of them.

Taibbi claims MLK would not support "guilt because of racial identity" or "bringing religion into it".

Slightly surreal that the stock market basically relies on the playground logic of "nuh-uh, I had an invisible force field!" and this somehow works even after it is pointed out that their Donny Trump action figure might come with Kung-Fu Cheeto Grip, but no force field is included.
Incredible, Greenland's PM is now refuting the one part of this that represented any change to the status quo ante.
