Luxon, alongside Winston Peters and David Seymour, the unholy trinity, did not and will not fix the basics. They’ve demonstrably made things worse.

Less than a week after the Prime Minister announced the general election date is a... curious time for the Finance Minister to start whining that criticism of her own policy failures is too "politicised."

POLITICS IS POLITICAL. DEAL WITH IT, SNOWFLAKE.

This makes me SO mad. NZ Post is (and should effectively be!) a public service. Many elderly, especially, still use their local post office for lots of things.

And let’s be real, public transport in many parts of NZ, even in our cities, is less than adequate.

This is forced car dependency.
A 4 kilometre walk is 45mins to 1hr if walking "briskly" and that's just one way. This will be basically impossible for many elderly who cannot do 2hr+ of walking in a day.

I don't even think a lot of people realise these aren't *really* even postshops, more like small businesses who buy all the stuff from nzp and take on all the risk themselves. Which makes this worse imo.

NZP hasn't owned their own shops in at least 10 years iirc.

I guess some folks have not been paying attention, but this has been known since probably about a year in. Anyway, as always, covid is unlike any cold or flu you've gotten, regardless of how it felt. Covid has potential to damage ANY part of your body because it's vascular (related to bloodflow). 😷🦠
“Epidemiological studies have begun to show a concerning trend: individuals with a history of COVID-19 infection are at an elevated risk for developing diabetes, often within months of recovery...” This has actually been known for years, but I’m glad to see more attention on it.

Here we go. More jobs gone in small towns, more services to local residents gone.

It had already become very hard to send to people overseas as NZ Post tries to get Kiwis to do that all online. Sad news especially for elderly who need assistance to send mail or folk who pick up from PO’s.
