And yes, I know it feels like being a scavenger picking over a corpse, but 1) that’s a CRITICAL ecological niche and 2) if it’s still new in the box from 1995, you’re not taking anything anyone truly cared about. (If it’s still NIB from 2019, it’s probably not much cared about.) 3) And it does help.

It is surprising to me that none of the major platforms have actual _parental control_ features so that we can limit the amount of time that our parents can spend online, and which apps they’re allowed to use. I don’t worry about my teenager’s use of the internet at all, just my octogenarian dad’s.

Taking care of people who need it without demanding a bunch of hoop jumping and groveling makes a difference. Taking care of community members who aren’t getting those support is critical. And building into our plans the fact that society has not been fair, even in small ways, is crucial.
