There are certain people on this site (and in the halls of congress) who think everything is a distraction instead of understanding the federal government is very big and powerful and can do lots of (evil) things at once. There are no distractions just omnibattle
Seeing some replies about how the arrests of Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are distractions, but targeting journalists is straight out of the fascism playbook. It's not to distract from other issues -- the regime wants to chill critical coverage because they know they're unpopular.

the primary blocker to UBI is the puritan belief that humanity is so sinful and depraved that it should not be permitted personhood unless it becomes 'civilised'

that's how liberal social policy ended up asserting that helping people would harm them but hurting people would help them
"Not only don't people work less when they are guaranteed an income, they might actually put in more effort at work. And the fact that they have more money to spend leads to the creation of more jobs."

Reading a news article (BBC) about how much Venezuelan people are looking forward to US investment to boost their local areas which have become rundown under Maduro and it's at least halfway down the page before they very coyly make mention that prior US sanctions even existed.

Could the government pay salaries to musicians and artists - no strings attached like they do in Ireland?

Jonathan Ross—the ICE fascist who killed Renee Good—is an 18-year ICE veteran, firearms instructor, & active shooter trainer.

The people claiming "ICE needs more training" are missing the point. Ross's 2 DECADES of training IS what led him to execute Good. ICE Training IS the problem.

Abolish ICE.

Best not to think of Labour as a political party, and more of a bunch of nomadic herders who share the same landmass, and occasionally come together for moments of peace and intermarriage in between raiding each other over blood feuds and livestock.

Went to see 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple the other day and I was not ready for the most charming bromance film I've seen in years.

I've actually volunteered at HTLGI in the past (free festival, free food, Hay is nice and the work is easy) they had Richard Tice there that year, but otherwise not too bad. This year looks fucking *rancid* though.
I would like to take a moment to salute How The Light Gets in, for their unstinting dedication to just continually being the absolute fucking worst in every way imaginable.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

You back down, they take it as an incentive to go after you even harder. This is fascism. It believes in strength alone. You can't reason with it, you can't compromise with it. All you can do is destroy it with every tool available to you.
