when people say approvingly that MeToo is a dead movement, what they mean is they want men to be able to act like this without consequences

there is really no difference between the current administration and having the country run by david duke
On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

This poll dropping 24 hours after so many people freaked out at Jamelle for saying that front-facing social media was the best way to reach persuadable citizens is pretty funny

Also, lol Twitter
Teens turn to a variety of online platforms, but YouTube continues to stand out. Roughly nine-in-ten teens report ever using it. TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat are the next most widely used platforms.

I see this argument made all the time and it's embarrassing for CCDH to keep making it, because it's a lie. Section 230, what they're talking about, does not give anyone a "get out of jail free" card. It simply puts the liability on the party who actually engaged in the violative behavior.
"Without checks and balances, [social media companies] have become a little bit tyrannical, very arrogant, and completely dismissive of their impact on our society."

Hegseth repeatedly misled the public about this strike.

The boat was headed for Suriname, not the U.S.
It wasn't carrying fentanyl.
The survivors didn't "radio for backup."

This strike was illegal, and Hegseth is trying to cover up what happened by refusing to release video.

i don’t (want to) believe 40% of parents condone it but the point stands otherwise
I may have underestimated the national psychological effect of Trump’s devastating political career.
Most children today have only known the Trump era of America, where a president does and says the most mean, immoral, disgusting things. And many (40%?) of their parents excuse it or condone it.

The lawless killing spree continues.

The administration justifies this slaughter by claiming there’s an armed conflict.

But it won’t even tell the U.S. public who the supposed enemies are.

Of course, there’s no armed conflict.

And outside armed conflict, we call premeditated killing murder.

For people who aren't steeped in the Supreme Court (and I don't claim to be), it can be hard to fully grasp just how cynical, misleading, and dishonest some of these arguments can be. (Fortunately in this case, the justices were like, "um WTF are you talking about," which made it easier).
