It's wild that we can sometimes have so many news choppers people can't sleep, but for this? Zero? I haven't seen ANY overhead shots of this crowd, and I've been checking news sites for the last 40 minutes. There's just... nothing.

The more I think about this, the more infuriated it makes me. It completely denies our history in global politics. New Zealand punched well above it's weight in the foundation of the UN.

Just so I'm really clear on this, we've got:

- Increasing climate impacts including destruction and death
- Continuing inflation, especially for lower income households
- Massive changes to the international order

And both major parties are choosing a platform of 'Nothing needs to change?' #nzpol

The top 6 media stories on Stuff are landslides, storms, floods.

None of them mention climate change, which we know makes these events more frequent and more extreme.

Tasmania’s hospitals are about to be entirely run by this catholic private healthcare provider who very explicitly will not provide IVF, abortions, vasectomies, or gender affirming care. Access to healthcare is a human right and it should be provided - freely, and to all - by the government.
Hey, AoNZ peeps. You know how weasley Simeon is setting up the health system to be taken over by private operators? Maybe that's not a great idea 🤔

Hey the voter suppression laws mean you can only vote up to twelve days before November 7 and have to be registered thirteen days before that. Twelve days before Nov 7 is 26 October. THAT IS LABOUR DAY. THE ELECTION VOTING STARTS ON LABOUR DAY.

Our media are still perfectly happy to tag along with the NZ government cosying up to this monster.
They never question them over it.
They laugh it off like a joke.
We need to start recording the names of our journalists that are complicit.

What part of "independent" does Winston Peters not understand?

I was pleased to see RBNZ governor Anna Breman appears to have integrity to support an international peer. More than Ministers in NZ govt are showing.

There's a lot going on here. An entirely absent PM and the entirety of our public response so far being a post on Twitter from the foreign minister - a post which doesn't even mention the US by name.
