OK BlueSky network, can we do the six degrees of Kevin Bacon thing? Does anyone know Ian Livingstone or someone in similar tech/tabletop gaming/boardgame area? I've got a tech demo that I'd love to take further, or at least show to people who might 'get it'.

Reposts appreciated.

Wonderful to see the Jackie archives appearing on the British Newspaper Archive so we can see which hot to trot hunks the teen girls of 1964 were moistly pinning to their walls.

Nothing could possibly go wrong with this. Creating a lifelike digital avatar on a third party platform will definitely not open teaching staff up to career destroying issues in the event of that platform being hacked.

Ah, happy 88th anniversary of the day Oswald Mosley tried to sell fascism to Liverpudlians – and someone concussed him with a brick

ME: Now Mom, just remember, there's a lot of disinformation and AI in your social feed and your friends' Facebook.
MOM: I know! My friend sent me this crazy post where someone used AI to make an image of a giant frog fighting Army troops!
ME: ... okay, no, that one's ... goddamit, Portland.

If you have a ‘difficult ethnic name’, you might know this feeling. Do you give your real name for your takeaway order - only for it to be misspelt or butchered? Or do you give a fake name for convenience: a “coffee name”?

I've wanted to write this for YEARS!

A mince dinner is among the purest heights of comfort eating.

And the risotto turned out good, ta. I was worried about its tastiness as the base rice mix was leaning bland; but I had a bacon, leeks and cheese mix ready to go in at the end and it all worked out tasty.

A big part of why I’ve got into cooking is because I enjoy eating, but can’t go out to eat every night (and won’t enjoy it anyway).

Another big part of why I like cooking is the therapeutic aspect of preparing and cooking tasty stuff.

Why yes, I am making risotto tonight. How did you know?

I do think it's terribly funny in a post-ironic sense that the viewer managed to, accidentally, self-insert themselves into the work and experience the themes firsthand. you couldn't pay for that level of metatextual immersion in a semiotics course

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

The idea of a house in Ireland being owned by a Cypriot based subsidiary of a Luxembourg investment fund shouldn't be possible. That's my line on this.
Otherwise this shit will just keep happening. You build more houses; they'll buy them up and continue exploiting people.
