My 2025 "Best Of" Lists conclude today with a special tribute to @@stevenomadic.bsky.social's flights over the Antarctic Sea Ice, plus the Byzantine Empire, Mel Brooks, and, of course - hockey. That's right - it's our annual DUDES ROCK edition!

A mensch.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

One great thing about being an adult is that you can just have a cup of coffee, take a walk, and listen to Collective Soul.
this is like some old man posting but i’m feeling a little under the weather today and so my exercise this morning is just a long walk and you know what activity rocks? taking a walk.

She's resigned. Mamdani handled it fast and that makes me feel better.
If you sincerely apologize for something you said in 2011, I’ll believe you. But not if you left the tweets up until yesterday!
And the Di Blasio admin should have caught those, it's pretty damning that they didn't.

When I worked at a legacy retail brand, customers constantly complained, correctly, about diminished quality, but were also allergic to the slightest price increase.
Excellent piece on the changing luxury fashion business. In short, prices are crazy, the goods aren’t as nice as they once were, and buying used is increasingly popular.
For @bloomberg.com Businessweek’s Year Ahead issue, I wrote about fashion’s failure to find new ideas or fix its outrageous overpricing, and the opening that leaves for secondhand marketplaces to sell brands’ better, older, cheaper stuff to their customers instead. www.bloomberg.com/features/202...

Once you see it, it's hard to miss it. Statements condemning violent attacks targeting Jews that don't actually mention "Jews" or "antisemitism".

This is a choice — and it's central to the crisis.

LE THREAD
No Gaston backstory is necessary, but now I want him to Flashman his way through Revolutionary/Napoleonic/Restoration France. Like he unwittingly foils the flight to Varennes, is nearly executed in the Terror, betrays both Napoleon and Louis XVIII, that kind of thing.
I do not want Gaston backstory, I do not need Gaston backstory, I reject Gaston backstory

he is a fully formed oaf, consuming eggs by the dozen in one of the greatest villain songs ever written, and that is all we need of him

It's really impressive that Buñuel died at age 83, considering that "trickster-coded communist filmmaker" was, from about 1930 to 1990, the most executable kind of guy in the world

i'm trying not to be a weepy millenial here: rob reiner brought so much joy to so many people and the absolute foulness of the soul that could say these things is something i'm glad i can't comprehend
Trump's comment about Rob Reiner, a beloved American, really demonstrates the rottenness of his character.

That is what is written: the advantage of light
Yet, the people who caused that "time of danger" are long gone. We are still here.

We will keep lighting up Hanukkah.

With our hearts and minds going out to the families of those killed, and are with the injured -

We are taught, light from within darkness shines brightest 💔💞

Love that for security reasons, the Hanukkah party is at a secret location that won't be disclosed online at any time and only emailed to attendees the day before.
