I'm a non-presenting trans woman wandering on the net; I'm part of the SF, Comic, Fantasy, Role-Playing & Furry fandoms, and mostly I want to make people happy. FYI, I'm 60. :P

I block and report bots and trolls on sight. And sometimes go a-huntin.

Okay so in another thread there was a discussion of whether or not the Dems have a bad habit of "focusing on cultural issues to the exclusion of economic issues" and to that I say: there are no non-economic issues.

Let's take a favorite 'cultural issue' and demonstrate: trans athletes in sports.

Meta, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat know how addictive their platforms can be to teens.

Those are allegations a group of school districts is making against the social media giants, according to a newly unsealed legal filing that quotes the companies’ own internal documents. https://cnn.it/3Xjq5x5

A reminder that one of the “concessions” the Senate cave-in caucus claimed they got was a promise to hire back the federal employees illegally RIF’d during the govt shutdown.

The Dems “negotiated” that with Congressional GOP… but the hiring is up to the White House… one that doesn’t honor deals.

It’s so annoying how people in power only reach across aisles if there’s power on the other side. Ask them to reach out to poor people, brown people, queer people, or disabled people, and it’s crickets.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Mastercard is bleeding, get in there. Make some calls. Get some cool family members in on it over thanksgiving
The lines are getting clogged from calls and Mastercard is feeling very pressured, they're looking into how to act in response. They're collecting information on callers to have a better understanding of who is calling in re the censorship issue

@governorwalz.mn.gov ICE must be barred from MN. We CAN'T be made part of the thuggery being enacted across the nation! The police in MN should NOT cooperate with them! We're supposed to be a great state, a place of freedom & acceptance, yet these Gestapo thugs are allowed to operate?

DO SOMETHING.

They stay!
