We would like to speak to your manager #guineapig
Fuck. Now I want a fish supper. But I'm in ATL so that's not happening for less than like 30+$ and it'll be gastropub style with fancy ass duck fat fries and whatnot.
🫡 Welcome to the corp (about to turn 42 but it's bluesky so canonically 38). And super happy for your outlook!
Thank you! Just wanted to double check - I get the newsletters, have a couple of really great pet paintings and buy the soap when I can.
Like, i feel like you could *maybe* (misguidedly) make this argument about low Earth orbit if you ignore the physics and cost of putting stuff there but... where does she think the moon *is*?
Howdy, I saw an entirely unrelated post about subsistence farming that reminded me I hadn't found Jenna on here since leaving the other place. Do you know if she's around on here?
Does.. does she think <no surely not>.. that if you drop something on the moon it falls to Earth?

Wild. A particularly striking thing about the post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland pictured in THREADS (1984) is how restrained the authorities are, under accurately described contingency orders of the day, compared to now.
I've been so dismayed to see the same in our field of late. It's not great.

The amount of AI generated art in slides at this conference, primarily used by older scientists, is killing me. Scientists please. Don’t use these ai platforms to make your figures or slides. They look bad and I have yet to see them meaningfully improve the message of talks.
More I think on it, that was a sensational waste of time, ridiculously lazy on specific details, and i was mostly interested because DoD were annoyed at the exposure of an obviously flawed system. THREADS is infinitely more interesting, realistic, still relevant and just *better*.
Just threw on A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE. Moderately interesting having recently sat through an APS seminar on the "golden dome" (lol, good luck with that in the face of MRVs) but there's only one way to end that kind of movie youtu.be/s4VlruVG81w?...

1. Russia has a slightly bigger stockpile than the U.S.
2. No one has tested nukes aboveground since 1980.
3. Since 1998 only N. Korea has tested nukes (underground).
4. Obama launched the renovation of the U.S. stockpile. It's not complete; timeline stretches into the 2040s ($ is headed for $2T).
None of this is correct. Good thing we have a steady hand on "nuclear"

Good morning! The rain has stopped in Tokyo this morning, so I was able to go for a walk. Masuke is doing well. The osmanthus is in full bloom.
Stuck on the Devil Rides Out (1968) and think we found a Christopher Lee fan in the ~25 year old Rheda who basically ran over to watch.
She from the OP has an admirer, enough to pause snacking :)
