The delaration is heard to mixed reactions by many other mecha pilots (not by Shinji Ikari, he is doing his best to ignore him).

The real and true story of why Police Squad (the TV series Naked Gun was based on and easily the funniest tv show of its time) was canceled is legitimately insane and one of the most egregious examples of TV malpractice I’ve ever heard:
ABC announced the cancellation of Police Squad! after four of its six episodes had aired in March 1982. The final two episodes were aired that summer. In an interview for the DVD release of the series, Nielsen said ABC entertainment president Tony Thomopoulos asserted Police Squad! was canceled because viewers had to pay close attention to the show in order to get much of the humor: "the viewer had to watch it in order to appreciate it"

Repeated Failure Yesterday at 1:35 PM The Rent Reducer 9000: A gun in a box disguising it as a free little library. A raspberry pi scrapes Zillow for open houses nearby. During open house hours, it tells a starter pistol/cap gun to fire a few times. Seen here at an art thing I brought it to.
