I personally have a lot against Americans and their pancakes are prime example of their inferiority as people. Compared to our pancakes the taste is bland and reminds of sponge bread. Even crepes are superior to pancakes they eat.

It is a tragedy that there are no places nearby that offer a decent sized pancake breakfast that isn’t sized for Americans or lumberjacks. And even those that offer pancakes are 50/50 about offering real maple syrup.

Lately the best pancakes in NYC are considered to be these giant things at Golden Diner but I've never liked this Asian style of pancake bc I think it makes it too dry inside. My favorite pancakes are still from Chez Ma Tante, where they're done in so much clarified butter that it's like a deep fry.
