Getting along like Unicode in an ASCII file. In a love/hate (but mostly love) relationship with Alabama, Mobile in particular. I like SQL.

And, of course, EVERYTHING I post here is on my own behalf, speaking only for myself, etc. unless explicitly stated

Today would have been my grandma’s birthday. It’s the first without her. Of the many things I have to be thankful for, I’m thankful that I had her for a grandma.

This is insane, fellas. Do what makes you happy! If it’s not hurting anyone else who cares.
So many men go through life like that. You can play poker because it's right-coded, you can't enjoy fruity alcoholic drinks because they're women-coded, you can't lick an ice cream cone because it's gay-coded. All day, every day, choosing and judging things based on coding for narrow norms.

do you have any idea how much you have to piss somebody off to make them change their gauge
#Finland will begin to #Russia - proof its rail network, integrate with EU train infrastructure.

The Finnish government has announced the conversion of its rail network from Russian gauge (1,524 mm) to European standard (1,435 mm).

People need food. Market won’t provide it. Government should. It’s literally the whole point.
Turns out Mamdani's controversial proposal for government-run supermarkets isn't so novel. Other cities also are toying with the idea to bring fresh, affordable food to communities that do not have easy access to it. Good WSJ read (gift link)

The goal is for the store to become profitable without any government subsidy within three years.

in order to end the Mr. Blue Sky industrial complex, every writer needs to explicitly state which ELO song should be used in an adaptation of their work on the narrow chance that it becomes mass-market popular

It’s always interesting to me to see the reaction to the recent Popes’ espousing a view on something that’s solidly conservative after doing things that are more aligned with progressive values (yet are themselves firmly grounded in Catholic doctrine). The Papacy is inherently small-c conservative.

Friends, though I more often speak specifically in support of trans people, make no mistake - I support the entire LGBT+ spectrum, and I support BIPOC and women's rights too, and on and on. White supremacy, patriarchy, etc. all serve to hurt the majority of us while aiding the absolute worst of us.
