yeah the backup plan for all this AI bullshit is just to monopolize personal computing by hoarding hardware, forcing people to pay out the nose for cloud based access that is subject to infinite corporate and government control.
i think lots of people underestimate how badly these “AI” companies want people to be unable to afford computers. they view personal computing as a roadblock to their desire for complete end-to-end centralization. the fact that their tech is putting hardware out of reach is not just a happy accident

I think it’s time for Democratic leaders to start saying “if you’re a pilot or ground crew involved in a deportation that was stayed by a judge, you’ll be held criminally liable for human trafficking.” Everyone involved in these flights should have that fear in the back of their minds.
Overnight, this probable ICE flight landed in Benin and is now returning to Senegal, likely for a crew layover.

The problem with this is voters don't trust centrist Democrats to actually punish fascists. 81 million people lined up behind Biden because they thought he would punish fascists, and when he failed to do so, people didn't show up for his vice president.
This attitude of “well, I’ll vote to stop MAGA but only if I don’t have to compromise any of my values” demonstrates a lack of urgency about the situation that I simply cannot relate to. “We deserve better”—ok. Maybe after we stop the fascist takeover I’ll have emotional space for that.
