This is the first Thanksgiving for Sophie & Colin Hortman without their parents, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman who were assassinated along with the family dog in an act of political murder. National guards troops were not deployed to the state in response.

Criminal No. 1:25-cr-00272-MSN OPINION AND ORDER GRANTING MOTION TO DISMISS INDICTMENT ECF NO. 60) On September 25, 2025, Lindsey Halligan, a former White House aide with no prior prosecutorial experience, appeared before a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia. Having been appointed Interim U.S. Attorney by the Attorney General just days before, Ms. Halligan secured a two-count indictment charging former FBI Director James B. Comey, Jr. with making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding. My father, Joseph Gaynor, of blessed memory, served in the US Army during WWII. He was in the invasion of the Philippines (Cebu, Luzon, Manila) trained for the invasion of Japan & was in the occupation post-surrender. Thanks for your service Dad, & my deep thanks to all who have served our country.

Sure, but the point is whether or not someone makes a claim isn’t informative about whether insurance is valuable. For example, a perfectly healthy person will likely want insurance (at the right price) to protect themselves against unexpected, large health care expenses.

There are many things wrong with the US health insurance system, but INSURANCE FUNCTIONING LIKE INSURANCE isn’t one of them. If you actually want to fix something (rather than wreck it) you have to identify and understand the problem first.
