New mural in the neighborhood, celebrating Ivory Bangle Lady. Buried in the 4th century AD, she came from North Africa to Eboracum (now York) and was buried with ivory bracelets, earrings, and blue glass jug. Found in 1901, meters from her mural. Seems York has always been welcoming to immigrants.

Other elements of the mural include a tower along the city walls surrounding the city of York (then, Roman Eboracum) with yellow daffodils in bloom in the spring, the head of Roman Emperor Constantine statue in York, and Roman legions.

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.

Just a reminder that NWS is considered essential during a government shutdown. Meteorologists will still go to work, forecasts will still be made, watches and warnings will be issued, data will flow. We won’t be paid until the shutdown ends, but we’ll still protect life and property as always.

When looking at ensemble means, beware of the "survivors bias". For example, the GEFS *mean* misses the coast... but most GEFS members make landfall!

This has to do with the storm timing. Consider how some members move the storm faster than others... (cont.)
