people keep saying the reason they're focusing on trans kids is because they want to make it harder for trans people to blend into society, but I don't think that's true?

I think it's just:
- kids are an easier target
- they already see children as property and not people

growing up every adult on the planet was telling us that even the hint of cleavage or a red solo cup would blacklist us from the labor force forever and now we have like every powerful white man taking pictures on pedophile island and not a whisper of consequences
[At an Epstein event] Hey man can you not take a thousand pictures of me?

i think its highly underappreciated the massive extent to which text-based platforms select for people who can consistently post in large volumes

short form video selects for conventionally attractive, microblogging selects for people who can post 50+ times per day
I agree that it’s 100% true that the eyeballs are all on short form video - and man, it’s still really depressing how the necessity of Doing Video nowadays seriously disadvantages people who aren’t conventionally attractive (or who just genuinely can’t stand being on camera)
The one thing I keep thinking about is how much direct to camera stuff rewards physical attractiveness. I mean, that's gotta be part of the reason these wellness influencers are successful, right? And you're competing for eyeballs with them.

The fact that it at least anecdotally seems to be a semi-regular practice to tell white people a minority got the job in order to soften the blow of rejection really should put the elite woke panic into perspective.

A thing to remember is that this happens a lot and the reason cops aren't better at this is that they very rarely have to be.

very interesting that the guy who wrote the “i can’t find a job because i’m white” piece zeroed in on me as responsible for the negative response on bluesky, despite the fact that i wrote a single post about the piece well after the discourse had started.
he's now on substack complaining about mccarthyism on bluesky and blaming, of course, Jamelle

One of the main themes of my account is that people in the United States, by and large, do not know how laws or the legal system work in practice. One question I get a lot is why this matters. Many leftists or progressives ask me every day why it's so important to know this stuff anyway. (cont)

Amazing how many articles are just “I’m a white guy who didn’t get the promotion I wanted and the only answer to this problem that concerns every single one of us is to re-segregate the workplace”

We're all supposed to be 100% in tune with white men's feelings. We're supposed to care about them at the expense of our own. We are supposed to live in fear of them getting upset. Treating their feelings as grenades that can go off at any time. They on the other hand do not need to care about ours.

I will NEVER vote for a politician who votes for anti-trans legislation. Never. I don't care who it is, it's a dead issue. Move on. If my vote is so important to the future of democracy they should have thought of that before they voted to exterminate my child.

Lower the Medicare eligibility age to zero.

Keep Medicare income-adjusted premiums.

Create a portal where employers can pay their employees' premiums.

Keep Medicaid or offer subsidized premiums for those below a certain income/wealth level.

Four steps to get from where we are today to M4A
Almost all of them switched decades ago or longer. Tell me how we are going to move from where we are today , to where you want to go ?

Saying you want it is easy. All I'm asking is how are we going to get there ?

If Bernie's M4A passed under Biden, RFK jr would be running M4A today.
Every other country does it, Mark. It's not some vague thought experiment.

Lots of ways it can be imperfect, of course, but it fundamentally gives everyone access to healthcare without fear of bankruptcy.

genuinely one of the most important books of the past 50 years imo

was equal parts enlightening and frustrating
“Stoking a desire for a restoration of masculine privilege serves many other forms of power, but it constitutes its own social project, namely, to produce an ideal past whose reanimation will target, if not eliminate, sexual and gender minorities.“

the true believers around nixon genuinely saw him as some kind of embodiment of the people and thought that congressional attempts to corral his authority were illegitimate on that basis. straight line from them to the executive power fetishists on the supreme court.

i think to understand the meaning of the birthright citizenship clause to the framers of the 14th amendment, you have to understand significance of dred scott to the civil war republican party. dred scott wasn't just a bad ruling, it was understood as a rejection of the declaration itself.
